Stepping out of the dark
I have no idea why I haven't introduced myself or posted on this forum since joining in 2007...I've spent more time reading and keeping my mouth shut.
Anyway, greetings and salutations! If anyone has BMW or Triumph motorcycle questions, feel free to ask away...I'm a wrench. -e- |

Welcome to the Forum Eric (for posting now).
Hmm the R850R. I liked it. A bit heavy for me and I found the gearbox a bit clunky on the downshift and neutral was hard to find. Not any other faults I can think of. Why do old triumph motorcycles leak so much oil?

Hi Eric, and welcome. There are a lot of motorcyclists here, and you'll find us if you do a search. As for me, well I am a lucky fellow! I took delivery of my new Moto Guzzi 1200 Griso 8v late last year. It was nearly an R1200R, but the Griso's looks proved irresistable! If I had the faintest idea of how to post a picture, I would, but it is beyond my modest talents! PS, I used to have an R850R back in the late '90s. Good bike, if a touch underpowered.

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Currently I am bike-less...saving my cash for the wedding in June. I get to test ride and borrow bikes at the dealership I work at. Hoping the soon to be Mrs. will be understanding and sympathetic to the new bike cause after June. I'd like to get a newer Bonneville. As for directioneng's question...it was to let you know when to refill the oil tank...a safety feature from the boys at Hinckley. I agree that the R850R was clunky and slow, but I had a lot of smiles per miles on her...over 100k in 7 yrs, she was a great bike and will always hold a sweet spot k. My heart...just like my grandfathers Oysterdate. |
