FSoT: Blancpain Fifty Fathoms - Fresh from Service - Warranty
This is essentially a watch in 99% condition. The wrappers are still on it from a fresh service. I literally picked up the watch on 2/2/11 from the Tourbillon Boutique on Wall Street which is an official Blancpain store.*The watch was sent to Blancpain for service directly by Blancpain watchmakers. Case and bracelet were polished to perfection, movement was completely serviced: disassembled, *hypersonically cleaned and reoiled. Hands were relumed, bezel springs were replaced. It's the smoothest winding watch I've ever had the pleasure to wind. It almost doesn't feel like it's winding until you put your ear by it and then you can hear it winding.
If you don't know the Fifty Fathoms, its the watch that invented the modern Dive watch and was the first official military dive watch. The grand daddy of them all. It has remarkable pedigree; second to none for a military dive watch. It was used by many underwater demolition teams around the world including the SEALs, French Navy, Israelis, among others. This Trilogy edition is a reborn version of this iconic line. As you can see in some of the profile shots, it has a beautiful domed sapphire crystal. A domed crystal is a famous trait of the Fifty Fathoms line. This watch comes with the Blancpain X71 Bracelet. Widely regarded as one of the most comfortable bracelets ever made. The watch is powered by the Piguet 1151 movement which has an amazing 100 hour power reserve. It's a thin high end but rugged movement found in watches from Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, and Breguet.* Size: 40.5mm x 13mm This is not a giant dive watch but not a small watch either. On the bracelet, it has quite a bit of wrist presence because of the polished and brushed contrast but it will still fit under a cuff.*Serial number is 593. It comes with a two year warranty. 8/31/10 is when it was received by Blancpain, 2/2/11 is when it was picked up and paid for. Warranty period is 24 months since 2/2/11. $5000 or best offer, not looking for trades for watches of a value less than $4000. I have extensive references available by long time traders. Comes with inner box, outer box, manual, warranty papers, extra bracelet link. Any smudges are my mistake and dust. |
