Disappointing Site

Truly disappointing. I posted in order to get actual information/education, not to get my b**t kissed or a slap on the back, which appears to be what this particular forum is all about. I'll try elsewhere. I would have thought some of you had actual knowledge of Rolexes and could provide some sort of comment.

Had a look at your first post from a few days ago. Its only been 3 days and no responses. I havent seen any comments to suggest "not to get my b**t kissed or a slap on the back". I hope someone does post any info on your watch that might help you. To insult other members on this forum by saying " would have thought some of you had actual knowledge of Rolexes and could provide some sort of comment." is not helping. It is a weekend and not everyone is glued to their pcs as they may be out there enjoying themselves who might know about your watch.

And I also imagine most do not have knowledge of ladies references as many of us do not collect them--sorry I am a man! Better to reach out again kindly than slam all and bail! JMHO...........

A simple bump on your first thread would probably have been a better way to go. I know nothing about vintage, but hopefully someone will be able to help with your previous thread.

What he said.

Oh well, maybe too late for that now.

(I hope you're bit more patient/polite, wherever "elsewhere" you end up. Slamming the community on your way out because you didn't get what you wanted-- after 3 whole days-- doesn't exactly say class).

Gentlemen, I understand about "biting the hand that feeds me", but I was at least expecting some general across-the-board Rolex info, and some of you have posted multiple times in the past few days on other threads. If you don't recognize the band, fine, I'll keep looking, but other info is general. I would have never posted here in the first place if I didn't think someone could reply. I assume you are seasoned Rolex owners who were educated in your early days, just as I need to be. I've read lots of info online, hoping it to be accurate, but info online is only as good as who puts it there.

Sorry, but I didn't even see your first post until you you brought it to our attention and I'll bet that I'm not the only one.

Next time bump it to the top to make sure everybody gets a chance to answer your question because these guys really know their stuff. (I hope that wasn't too much back slapping). Unfortunately, I'm not one of them though.

Seriously? I would believe that self research using a search tool would be the best start, then if your own research doesn't come to fruition (I would be surprised if you didn't learn anything), be patient and await a knowledgeable response. I have waited longer for replies to my posts on any forum, so your situation isn't new. Be calm and do some more research yourself. Maybe you will be the expert here on your watch and help others.

What exactly is it you want to know? You are aware of the reference number and the approx. date of manufacture--first quarter of 56? That would be consistent with the "BREVET+" marking.

It's Rolexspeak for swiss made and was generally used untill about 58 (give or take).

I'm going to take exception with your statement about knowledge. This forum has some of the most educated people within the vintage community (or modern for that matter).

The ladies watch you post is not something collectors might spend a lot of time on...as with the ladies party watches as well. As these were not normally considered collectable.

Rolex as a company produced a lot of different references back in the day. Who could have seen the collectability and research that has gone into the brand and it's history as the years progressed.

That people specialize in a certain arena does in no way demean their knowledge or love for the brand.

I find your remarks offensive. Perhaps another venue would be more to you liking. Try Timezone--lots of great people there many of which honor us with their membership here as well.

i bought my first Rolex based purely on searching the web & reading relevant books, having found this site a few years later i learned even more & i'm still learning each & every time i come here. the info is out there if you search for it & confirmation can always be gained from the many knowledgeable guys on here if you need to double check anything....much better than slating the site before anyone has had the opportunity to help out

Wow, what bad form. I think it says a lot about the character of our members to still give this guy good info in spite of his rude comments. Ooops, maybe I just gave a "slap on the back" to TRF. Oh well, so be it.

I do NOT consider congratulating a member on a new purchase, wishing well for an ill one, or welcoming a new member "b**t kissed or a slap on the back". I think of this site as a fraternity or club where everyone has something in common and share knowledge and passion for the Rolex watches here. I hope you find what you are looking for. Good Luck

You clearly did not take the time to understand that this site is about much more than Rolexes (or you lack the ability to understand that)...your loss.

Welcome to TRF anyway

Ouch, kinda harsh words from the OP!!Just because you didn't get an immediate response to your question, no need to insult people here. Maybe you posted at a time when few people were on line, or maybe you just picked a topic that didn't generate alot of interest. I've had a thread or two die a quick death, no need to take it personally. There are alot of fine people here, including the owner and mods. Sorry you got off on the wrong foot, it may be time to.think twice before hitting the submit button.

If you are looking to have it verified, go to an RSC. You got the watch for free already.

There are a lot of messages that churn here which makes it easy to miss messages.

You seemed to be a thin skinned fella based on your remark since nobody 'cared' to reply to you.
