Looking at a 70's Daytona today, any pointers?

Looking at a 70's Daytona this afternoon and as i'm not up on vintage Rolex's is there anything I should be looking for or avoiding?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Mike.

That opens up a lot of possibilities. I would suggest before buying a vintage Daytona that you know everything there is to know about the one you are buying. I would ask someone who knows or share all photos as there are many nuances with them that are important and no detail should be overlooked. The best reference to me is the book Daytona- A Legend is Born. Anyway--best of luck and before you buy -know what you buy and of course buy the seller.

X2 Just be careful especially with anything vintage like the Daytona or Red subs SD etc.

Again--Can't stress this enough: BUY NOTHING until YOU KNOW EXACTLY EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of the REFERENCE you are BUYING!!!

* That goes from movement -all lines and detail on movement--printing on dial--hands--insert--numbers on side of case--both sides--etc. etc. If you do homework
upfront in vintage-you will be better off in long run!! Again--Invest in the Book: Daytona A Legend is Born. It will show you every single detail so you can compare
with whatever watch you are looking at. I have seen so many fakes out there and it is ususally in smallest detail!!

Steelerfan1965 put me on to the 6263 PN and I must say that I have been converted to vintage. My WG YM II might have to wait a little longer. I still need some education on the vintage Daytonas myself but that's the direction I'm headed with my next piece

LOL.... thanks buddy!! Like Ken said... be very careful.. lots of fakes and junk out there... and they LOVE to feast on the ignorant. Make sure you do your due diligence if you intend on buying... if you can take pictures, take em and post em here - detailed shots on the dial/hands, case, bracelet, caseback off, movement etc.

Don't be discouraged, it can take a while to find the right piece... but when you do there is no better feeling. Good luck buddy!

i'd ask Steve Mulholland or Jacek Kozubek if they can help... at least then you've bought the seller and that's what's most important
