TT Blue --- Yachtmaster???
O.K. Fellow Addicts - We talk a whole lot about the TT blue Sub. But on the occasions when I have seen - tried on the TT blue YM, well that one is pretty great also. Just out of curiosity, do any of you out there own one?
The dial is, of course, a deeper blue, which can appear almost black in a certain light. I find it fascinating. Question - how do you think they compare? Larry. (aka. The Maestro) |

Never been a huge Yammie fan, but the TT w/ blue dial is a good looking watch. Much to my chagrin (and JJ's delight, I'm sure ) it's going to be hard to beat the blue on the TT Sub. It's remarkable. After looking at that blue everything else in that genre seems to come second.

The TT Blue sub colors are the apex of desirability, some may come close, but I doubt it will ever be surpassed.

I've found that the blue color on steel and gold subs is quite variable..It can be the most beautiful deep blue, or it can be a lighter shiny blue. or even a very flat blue.. Haven't seen a Z version yet..Which serial range had the deep blue?

What turns me away from the YM is the wide bezel - much prefer the Sub. Re the variability of the Sub blue, # weeks ago when I was buying a car, the salesman was wearing the TT blue Sub. The blue on his was darker than most, and looked teriffic... |

Great thread for me. I own both. I have a TT Blue Sub (Z serial number) and a TT 18k/SS Blue Dial YM (D serial number.) The serial number denotes the date of maufacture with Z being the most recent and D the one just prior to that.
I bought the TT Blue Sub first and I thought it was the end all beat all. However I had seen the TT Blue YM before at a different AD and really liked it but that AD would not discount it at all. My favored and only used now AD did not have a TT Blue YM and quite frankly if you see a TT Blue Sub in person it is really hard to not want it. So my AD had it, gave me 10% off on it so I pulled the trigger. Thought I would be done buying Rolex as that watch is amazing and the blue really does mesmerize and seems to almost change hue before your eyes. In fact I loved it so much I kinda forgot about the TT Blue YM. That is until that day about 2 months ago I go into my AD and low and behold they have a TT Blue YM and I lost my breath. It was beautiful and I fell in love all over again. I put it on my wrist and did not want to give it back. I was still paying off my TT Blue Sub, but I had to have that TT Blue YM. So I busted out the card and got it. The TT Blue YM had been at thier other store which is kind of far from where I live so I had never seen it. Now, I almost never wear my TT Blue Sub. The TT Blue YM has become my favorite Rolex to the near exclusion of all else. It is a little bit more "bling" than the Sub in that the bezel is all gold. The Sub is a little more bling than the YM in that the blue is a little brighter. However I like the blue of the YM better. Its the same blue as on my Air King and it seems to go better with jeans and dressed up. It can appear blue and almost black. Its just a beauty. The only thing I don't like about the YM is the stainless crown next to the all gold bezel. I can't understand why Rolex did this. Minor dislike. The TT Blue Sub has a gold crown. Anyway you can't go wrong with either, I am just blessed to have both. Fortunately I do not have to choose between having both, but if I did I would choose the YM over the Sub. It just is a little more rare in the wild and I just love having it on my wrist. Last edited by Gaijin; 19 June 2007 at 10:55 AM.. |

KansaiVet - Thanks for the interesting post, and the great pix of the 2 side by side. The dial on the YM does look close to black in the light you have it in.
It's interesting that apparrently not many addicts on the board own or are familiar with the TT blue YM. Last time I saw one at an AD I was quite impressed, had trouble walking away. They put it on the counter right next to a TT blue Sub, and I kept going back and forth. The choice proved too difficult and I didn't buy either. I also love the blue on the YM, and have a TT DJ with that same blue dial. It is definitely a more conservative look, and very classy imo. Thanks for the serial # info. Cheers, Larry. |

I can't buy either one until I get some clarity. Probably a good thing.
Who is more beautiful, Angelina Jolie or Catherine Heigel? |

Well, Angelina Jolie would be a "used" model that has been in the shop for a lot of repairs...

...I wonder if the TT Yachtmaster could be fitted with an 18k sub crown..With the gold crown, the choice would be easy...Once again: What was Rolex thinking of by having a Steel crown on this watch..Probably the same guy dreamed up this idea that came up with the new style YM.
