Help ! Please value my late uncles Rolex watch

Hi...I'm new here.

We have found a Rolex watch at my uncles house. I don't think it is real,so have listed it with other 'old' watches we found in his house on Ebay. There has been a lot of interest in the Rolex watch ! I have just been offered £400 for it after sending some pictures to an Ebayer who requested I send them to his private address.

Please tell me if you think it is real, and if so give me an idea of what it is worth and what to do with it.

Thanks in advance. PM's welcome.

Looks legit. I would send these pics off & have them valued. Not sure of the website name however I know my girlfriend used it for a 50s Brietling she bought me. It only costs about £5 for a valuation.

All I know about it is that back in the late 70's my other uncle (who owned his own business and was very wealthy...his wife (my aunt) lives a few doors from Wayne Rooney in Prestbury!) bought a Rolex. He was very close to my my uncle who recently passesd away. A few weeks later my uncle also had one !

That looks real to me, and though I am certainly no expert, I would not only question whether there were a lot of fakes being made when that one was current, but whether anyone would ever fake that watch in particular.

hey there,
its a nice watch. i have NO idea why anybody would think of selling something without trying to find out EXACTLy what they have. it could possibly be made of gold and with the price of a troy oz hitting us1500, you should stop the auction and get it looked at. the dial does look good to me. it may be worth more for the material than as a watch. do you homework and dont take the easy way out and dump it on ebay ! harry in montreal

I do not like the look of the Rolex dial coronet or the size of the winder.

But I do not know this model Rolex so I could be wrong.

Can you please take off the band and post pictures of the model and serial no.s between the lugs??

...I agree w/Michael...

...additionally, take the watch to a respectable jeweler and have him pop off the case back and TAKE A PICTURE of the inside of the back AND the movement. Then, come back here and post them!

Some more pictures...as clear as I can get with an N95 camera phone.

The winder broke off last night ! I tried to wind it and it came off,as if the needle part was weak. Gutted !
