Icon14 Question for Chinese writers

If I look up 17:55 in Chinese I get this result: 下午五点四十四分
The time 7:44 (am) gives me this: 上午七点五十五分

Is that how you would write the time in Chinese, or is it different from the "normal" number conversion?

I would really appreciate any advise! Thank you

Appears that you have your 4's and 5's mixed up....

17:55 = 下午五点五十五分
07:44 = 上午七点四十四分

in all seriousness, usually i write in the following manner:
17:55 = 下午17:55 or 下午5:55
下午 basically means PM. so not necessary to write in 24hour format.

07:44 = 上午07:44

i have yet to meet someone who dont understand

Normal day to day yes, but it wouldn't be an appropriate format used in a formal document per say....

Your way is also a "proper way" for normal day to day use (for ease of writing IMO).

But for formal documents say like government, wedding certificate etc, the OP's format would be used - that's what I was taught when i was younger anyway....
