A few questions for the experts?
A good friend of mine was helping me locate a two tone GMT. He sent me a link to a site where this watch was being sold. I am very confused by this. I assume someone here can explain this to me as I am relatively new to watch collecting. I heard the real experts use this site and forum to discuss things such as this. Below is the information I cut and pasted.
great daily wear two-tone 16753 GMT as you can see,it has been worn and loved for many years..but its still in great condition! thick case, running well, all numbers visible.. comes with box & papers and everything shown (except the desk!) the two-tone oyster band is a 78363-18 clasp (correct for this model) the endlinks are 458's (correct for this model) but the actual links are from a 78360 and a skilled watchmaker replaced the stainless center with gold.. but its very tight, and 100% authentic! nipple dial has a pleasant fade.. its an all round wonderful watch that you CAN WEAR! My questions are: 1. Can a vintage Rolex bracelet be 100% authentic when it has gold added to it and is not original to the watch? 2. I know the pictures are not with the description but in the pictures I noticed the Bezel was Gold. Do any vintage Stainless Rolexes come with Gold Bezels? Any help answering these questions would be great! Thanks! |

I figured out how to add a picture of the watch. I was told that the experts here could help me with issues relating to Rolex watches. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum!
The watch you are looking at is for sale by our very own TRF Member, Steve Mulholland. You can not go wrong with him. SOLID! Feel free to drop him a PM... I would recognize that "thumb" anywhere!!! |

To me, you'd be buying the watch "as described". I wouldn't call it pristine, when it comes the bracelet, but it's certainly wearable.
Also, Steve M. has been selling here for a long time. |

I left out the sellers information as not to "out" anyone. I wasn't trying to start anything. I just am looking for information based on his description and picture and asking the seller may or may not net me the answers I require for an intelligent watch purchase. He mentions the Gold added to the bracelet, which is fine. I have no issue with the disclosure that says it has had Gold added but is it standard practice to say a bracelet is 100% authentic when it did not ship from Rolex that way?

Steves a good guy and a frequent visitor here and to our store.
I think the watch is probably straight. He DID disclose the band being not original ("gold added") so i do wonder if the bezel is added also. The only problem might be that he said it was 100 percetn authentic after mentioning that the gold was added. Jeff hey steve! nice salesmanship on the faded dial! ""pleasant fade". Can I use that?? :) |
