Well overdue Thankyou to this Forum Pics of my Purchase
Thankyou to all!!
Although I have not posted much on here, the hours reading have been a great help! You guys are really amazing, as to the depth of knowledge, on these wonderful time pieces.December of 2009 I was on the hunt for a Datejust for the Wifey. I finally pulled the trigger after much reading on this site. I ended up with a 2003 box no papers for 2,800. I think I did pretty good any thoughts? Well in purchasing her watch I paved the way for me to take the leap from a Tag Heuer to my own Rolex (momma did not raise no dummy) "but honey you have one" I said LOL I now have my eye on a GMT with box no papers. Purchased in 99' claims to have been worn 7 times (and the sticker condition on back would seem to back this up) Looks like it's in damn good shape. Not sure of the serial yet. He was asking 3,400 and I am going to offer 3,100. Any thoughts from the pro's? |

My wife has no interest in Rolexes. Which is a big problem. :)
She's into responsible stuff like saving, paying bills, Bo-RING...:) Congratulations. Just be careful, some good fakes out there. |

I have not purchased the mens watch yet. Was hoping someone would chime in about the price, before i pull the trigger on a purchase. I had my wife's looked at by the jeweler at Mayor's. He put it on there "beat per minute tester" and gave a unofficial "appears authentic to me"

Did I post this in the wrong section?
I am getting scared now. No responses. Is there something that isn't adding up or looks wrong?

Give it some time. It hasn't even been an hour since your OP.

If you can trust the seller, it's a bargain. My 2003 Y series all black was about $3,300 and prices on these older models have gone up since.
Remember, though, buy the seller - not the watch. P.S. I love my all black GMT-II. It's my favorite watch and gets about 90% of my wrist time.

You pictures are not very clear. You will need to post close ups / much better shots to show the condition. Impossible to judge in your pics.
THis is a GMT Master not GMT Master II, yes?? When was it last serviced? |

it is a GMT not a 2 correct. Has not been serviced. Those are the pics from the ad so I don't have any others. I originally offered him 2,800 he declined and came down to 3,300 My next move was going to be 3,100 dollar offer. From what I can tell it looks very clean and unworn. Factoring in a service though I am wondering If I could get a newer offering for the same money once the service is factored in? p.s. Any comments on wife's I can take it, good or bad. |

As for the GMT, that one is not going to be a quick set, if I recall correctly. The GMT-II has the quickset feature for the hour hand., which makes it very easy to switch time zones. The II's are going for considerably more than what the AD is asking.

So if I were to spend 3,100 and a service is 580 I am at 3,680 Could I get "more watch" for that amount possibly a GMT II that may not need service for awhile? He claims it was put on a tester recently the jeweler said "it was not that far off" (whatever that means) but recommended a service. It seems that they always "recommend service" they basically said the same thing about my wifes and it is keeping time fine without service. Sorry I feel like I am jumping around a bit. So may be ok deal, but nothing stellar? I looked at a 2004 Sub....box, papers, anchor, very clean and had the guy down to 4,000 I like the GMT and the Sub models |

Have you seen this watch in person / examined it? I could not make a decision based on these pics. Do you have good references for your seller? I would not give a hoot about what he says his former / current profession are. I have no idea what some of the trusted sellers here do...other than provide stellar watches at great prices. |

The Sub I have touched and is from the same place I purchased my wife's watch. It is very clean. I hope I am not confusing the issue bringing up the Sub. |

It looks like a good deal!!!
You need to put it on your wrist $3100 is a good price but if there is a Sub up for grabs I would try on both and see what speaks to you, I have done alot of swaps trying to find the right watch. Either way congrats!!! on the datejust and GMT or Sub

Get the Sub because of preference or because it seems like the better deal? I think they are both wonderful looking time pieces. Both invoke equal emotional response so it is coming down to which might be the better deal.
