First Rolex purchase - U serial Submariner, any advice?
I've decided on the Submariner for my first Rolex purchase, I had a Cartier Roadster Chronograph before and although I like the look of it, it always felt more like a piece of jewelry to me than a true classic timepiece. I'm not a watch expert by any means, so hopefully Cartier fans won't take offense to that. :)
My preference is the no date for the clean look, and I'm looking at getting one pre-owned hoping to have it keep its value as much as possible. I intend on taking good care of it. I found one locally here in Toronto from a private seller. Here is what I know:
After some light negotiation the seller is willing to do $3750 and meet me at an authorized Rolex dealer to authenticate the watch and register it in my name. I'd really appreciate some advice before I pull the trigger on this.
... and I guess overall is this a fair deal to move forward with. Thanks so much in advance for any input. Tom |

Those are the only pics I have, I think I'm too much of a newbie to understand your question?
