Would you take it swimming?
I know there´s a lot of similar threads on the forum, but I just can´t decide...
I´m leaving for vacation on thursday, and due to the travelling and places we´re going to stay I will only bring 1 watch. We´re spending one week on a cruise and a couple of weeks in a villa where we´re gonna spend some days in the pool, on the beach and of course in the nearby cities. So the watch I´ll bring will need to do the job both on the beach playing with my kids, both also with "semi-formal" wear in the evening. My collection includes several SS Rolexes, including Sub-C wich might be the obvious choice for the task. However I feel my green dial 116718 GMT MII 18k wants to join, and I really like to bring it. I´m all for using (not abusing) my watches, and this is in no way a safe-queen, but is it up for the task? |

I'd bring the Sub-C and not give it another thought. It's waterproof . . . it's right there on the dial.

Wow, I wish I had that problem right now. I'm sitting behind a computer in a very warm office. It is the best weather we had for months outside and I have to work all day, and even worse, I'm looking at pictures for my first Rolex, so I'm not even wearing one right now.....
Beautifull picture of that 18k GMT, looks great !! have a great holiday ! |

I swam with my DJ my entire two week wedding and honeymoon trip. Aside from it almost falling off my wrist during a really drunken high five it survived the trip lol almost losing it in the ocean scared the you know what outta me though :/

SubC, no question. Looks good for day and night activities.
Didn't say where your going, hopefully no problems with wearing 18k sticking out like a sore thumb, I tend to bring my GMT everywhere. The others, take a vacation while I'm on vacation. One less thing to worry about. Have fun

I'm leaving for a beach vacation in Spain next week. I've decided to strap on the Sub 14060M with a Nato and leave it there for the duration and not give it a second thought. The others will be 'safed' while we're gone.

On topic: I would leave the gold at home. It could attract the wrong kind of attention. Enjoy your vacation. |

I take my Datejust swimming, even my old 1982 Date was in the ocean with me in Bermuda. Its a Rolex Oyster its waterproof, I dont need to mention the crushed Oyster ad from the 70's.

Tough choice..
I've worn a gold Sub during the same activities, so it's really up to you what you want to do.. However, only take one.. It's safest on your wrist than any place else while on a vacation......

Tough choice but if I had to bring one then it would be the GMT since it's 18k and it would fit the semi formal wear.

I would take the Sub C and it is built to take the punishment of all types of outdoor activities and weather extremes.

Are they insured?
Bring your favorite. Leave the other at home. Have a good time.

Thanks for your thought, guys!
I'm still a little torn, will have to sleep on it... Regarding theft and robbery I'm not so worried. I'm mostly conscerned about the "sandwash-threatment"... The Sub might be an obvious choice, but I'm gone for four weeks, and It's a long time without the golden love:) |

Careful! I urge extreme caution in this potentially hazardous holiday situation. Water can be quite wet.
