I think the question is - which one can you get.

The way the whole availability is going, both are going to be very difficult to come by, especially the 382..... Unless you are a big time collector with a good relationship with your supplier(s)

382! Such a cool, interesting and striking piece.

372 is nice, no doubt, but, for that kind of money, I think I want more.

Both are great, though, and get my juices flowing more than this year's new models from a certain other brand.

Tried a 372 a few weeks ago and while i liked, I also felt that it is alot of money for the watch. It makes the 382 more value for money for some reason

I would def want a 382, due to the bronze material and the green dial.

The 372 wins hands down for me. The bronzo is a great piece, but I always have not been able to wear the sub pam comfortably on my wrist. The titanium ones are the least fussy, but still doesnt feel that good.

agree,for 372 money I would rather wait for a 111 to have an inhouse movement,my vote goes to the 382.

I don't really understand the buzz about the 372. Imho it is a $10k+ base model, not even (apparently) a LE. The 'vintage' touches are nice, but not worth a huge premium. The 'Bronzo' does nothing for me at all...

The premium (which may never completely go away for the case or movement) is for the new case, the new movement, the sexy plexi crystal, engraved dial, and that sweet sweet strap.

Even though you can point to all these things, deconstructing it actually leads you away from the real reason for the buzz.

That reason? The 372 is a -perfectly- conceptualized and executed piece. There isn't one thing you'd add or change. It's a masterpiece.

I'm thinking in comparison to, say, the 233 which also has an inhouse movement and some unique features.

At 6k I would be interested. At 10k+ there is a lot of interesting competition - not that Panerai will have any trouble selling them all of course.

I don't disagree with your comments. But there are-a-plenty willing and able to pay these "ridiculous" prices. 233 isn't a bad comparison; however, I think the draw to the 372 is the lack of features. Go figure!

I think all watches are priced ridiculously.

But to be fair, yes, the 372 is very very basic compared to other in-house movements has to offer. But then again, there are people willing to pay for that simplicity. I mean I'd take a 233 without the 8 days in front - just to make the dial cleaner.

and yes, compared to a 233, it is overpriced.

Come to think of it, anyone thought of changing the hands to gold on the 233? Do-able? Dangerous?

And Bryan, usually the ones on eBay sells them in 3. One for the hour hand, one for the minute hand, and one for the seconds hand. So I don't think there's any trouble looking for one. Just thinking of changing it, and DOING the change. Since it's an in-house 8 days movement, it's kinda pretty scary to disassemble the unit alone.

And no - I don't think those service centres would want to do it.

yes, OP definitely accomplished what it set about to do.

but, i would change one thing (setting aside the size (for me) and price ). i just don't like the engravings on the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock sides of the case. at least in pictures, it clutters the look and almost makes the case seem chipped/scratched. see eric's picture above, for example.

i'm guessing that in real life, it looks better.
