My first Rolex is my grail
Happy 4th of July!!!
My quest for my first Rolex started on early Saturday morning when I left the Bay Area for a road trip to the Pacific Northwest. I had planned to make stops at a few AD's in Oregon along the way. Thanks to recommendations from some members here. You guys rock! A little after noon I arrived at Skeie's in Eugene. This was my first time at this shop and was pleasantly surprised to meet Rick the owner at the door. He was very nice and welcoming despite the fact that I was wearing my comfy road trip attire (read t-shirt, jeans and rubber shoes) and looked a bit tired after driving over 600 miles. Even sent someone to get me a cup of my favorite Starbucks coffee. I had the intention of checking out both the SubC and DSSD. I had tried on the DSSD at an AD in the Bay Area but they didn't have the SubC for me compare side-by-side then. Anyways, at Skeie's I was delightfully surprised to find out that they had a white face SS Daytona in stock. I briefly tried the SubC but Daytona was singing the loudest at me so to speak. I just couldn't believe that my first Rolex would be my grail. FWIW, even if I ended up owning the SubC as my first Rolex I would've been very happy too. Here is a shot of my SS Daytona. Unfortunately my CF card reader failed so I had to use my wife's P&S camera instead. I will surely take better shots when I get home later this week. |
