DSSD height and sighting in Italy

I have had my DSSD for 2 months but until I saw my first sighting last night on some ones wrist in Sicily I didn't realize how good it looks.
The height actually makes it stand out from many other large watches. That chunk of Rolex just makes a statement like few other watches can.
I knew I liked it but now I love it.
Anyone else feel the same way?

Not a DSSD fan for that very reason. I prefer the classic understated look.

Yes I feel the same way. I've flipped the Daytona, the YM and Sub LV in recent years but I'm hanging on to the Deepsea - it feels and looks the best of all the Rolexes I've owned.

I wanted one so bad when it was announced, then tried it and...just too big for my wrist!

Good for you, the engineering on that watch is a statement. I really wanted one until I saw how thick it was on my wrist. To each his own.

The worst-looking Rolex, IMO. But so long as YOU like it, that's all that matters.

I love the look of big watches. But no longer find them comfortable. My sub and GMT ruined big watches for me as the sub and GMT are so comfortable.

I've only tried one on briefly one time but I did like the way it felt. I might need to take a second look after seeing some great photos lately.

Agree! I was out with a friend last night and we were both wearing a Deepsea. My friend has a big collection including AP ROO limited edition, Cartier, Franck Muller... he has had and sold various Rolex models including a sub and ss Daytona. We both agreed that when we wear a watch we like to be able to feel it on the wrist. The size and weight of the Deepsea is perfect for me.

I've had mine for all of a week now and I Love it. I have reasonable sized wrists (7.5") and I am used to wearing larger format watches, so the watch is very comfortable for me. I tried a TT Sub. It looked beautiful but I felt I wanted something slightly larger, so the Deepsea was purfect for me.

I don't agree either, which is why I'm back with my trusty 16610. Glad you enjoy yours, though.

I very rarely see Rolexes in the wild, but I spotted 2 last night! And of all places, Wal-Mart.

First, I saw a sweet black and red GMT on a guy looking at teeny-bopper posters with his young daughter, then I saw a DSSD on a guy in the pet aisle.

I couldn't help myself and said, "That's the second Rolex I've seen here tonight." I don't usually comment on watches spotted in the wild, but he was cool about it and let me have a look. Damn! That thing is a beast. What an awesome watch.

I LOVE the DeepSea! It's the only watch I'd trade my SD up for. I like big watches(although I feel my SD is a chunky statement in some ways), and that's a MODERN Rolex for sure. I like the fact they're appealing to a "younger" crowd with it ad well, and it's a serious engineering specimen.

I like classic and modern, and I WILL have a DeepSea some day.

If it wasn't for the DSSD, I would not own a Rolex. All other styles look stale and old......or classic, from what others have been calling them.
Every other watch manufacturer releases new products every year, including more upscale brands like PP, AP, etc.
Finally, Rolex is growing the sizes of their other watches to make them more appealing to today's standards.

I think you just have to see it being worn on someone to really appreciate it.
I am glad some of the forum members agree. Because of the height it sets it apart from most other watches. Until I saw it from a distance I couldn't appreciate it's presence.

I like the way it feels on my wrist. I feel like I am wearing something.

It's a great watch, which I often wear with a shirt and suit for work, no problems there.

Wanted one when it was first introduced! Then I had found one at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa,CA & tried it on, it was just too big & heavy for me. Looks great, but not for me!

Please don't compare old & stale to classic. Different animals.
