Chopard is one of the elite watch brands in the world, so my guess is that they would address any mistake on their part immediately, if there was one. Many of the Miglia have ETA movements, which if this is the case with your particular model, still are generally known for their robustness and reliability. Regardless, I am sure they will do what they can to restore your timepiece to full working functionality. But I have to disagree with your recommendation not to buy Chopard--they make incredibly nice watches.
