I've got a 1680 that I picked up last year from the original owner, all original 5.1 mil. I've also got a K series SD. I love both watches but I have to have the new EXP II when it's released. Which of my two would you sell? And let me say, keeping both and buying the EXP is not an option.

I hear the price for this one will be "out there" some $8.000 plus ?
So if we assume around $4,000 for your SD and 4,000 for the 1680 (vintage
prices are soft at this moment) most likely you will have to sell both.

how bad we are with economics...

I wouldn't do it. I would keep the ones you have already. Both great watches.

I'd say keep the ones you have and save for the new one, unless your life will depend on having a 24 hour mechanical watch.

It it will, then keep the SD.

Don't sell, the advantage you/we all have is the new Exp II will be around for years.

Yeah, I want one yesterday, but that isn't going to happen for a while yet.

Get rid of the SD.

I would sell the SD, which I did.

You can always buy another SD later, there are plenty of them in circulation whereas the 1680 is rarer and more desirable by collectors.

Get rid of the SD. Lets say you realize you made a mistake and wanted to reacquire the watch you sold. The SD would be much easier to find. You could probably find one BNIB on this forum. My AD still has one in his show case (Yes a SD, not the DSSD). Try finding a 1680 where you know 100% of the history like the one you own.

Besides I think vintage watches are so cool

Often I think the temptation is because we want something just a bit different or new, even though we already have something as good or even better already.
