No i don't work as a publicist for Hodinkee...It's a site that offers a lot insights into Haute Horology, its just coincidence that the editor is a huge Rolex Fanatic, especially
vintage pieces. I see the broadcasting of Hodinkee's posts almost like a tweet, all i am doing is spreading the joy of Rolex!

yes i see what you are saying ...but unlike a tweet...hodinkee is a commercial site and appears to draw its revenue from advertising, which is hit driven and there have been occasions in the past where 'blogs' have been surreptitiously promoted across the forums to drive hits ...hence my question.

This can cause problems for not for profit forums when you link in, hence the rules :

4.FORUM IS NOT TO BE USED FOR :

(i) LINKS TO REPLICA, PERSONAL OR COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE WEBSITES or BLOGS, UNLESS WITH FULL PRIOR ADMIN PERMISSION, AND ANY FORM OF SELLING WHATSOEVER UNLESS WITH FULL ADMIN PERMISSION AND IN FOR-SALE FORUM ONLY..

if that permission exists then accept my apology and i really don't want to seem like a grumpy old bugger (especially as i enjoy Hodinkee's blog as well), just dont want to see steve getting grief from on high as had happened elsewhere.

Allow me to correct a few things :

" Haute Horology " does not exist it would be " haute horlogerie " in french
Also , arrow in Italian is " freccia " and not freccione . " I do realise that Freccione is widely used when referring to a particular 1655 but the word as such does not exist . the "one " added in "frecci(a)one" comes from a common way in Italian slang to say something is large / oversized / big ( in this case the arrow ) The way you would pronounce this " freccione " you'd be close to " frizione " meaning rubbing or even a clutch in a car ..doubt that was the idea .

Sorry couldn't help being the smart ass here for a second

Funny how they picked up a new nickname in the last year, once the Steve McQueen myth was busted.

a quick italian lesson ?
1) freccia= arrow
2) freccino = small arrow ( like the GMT small hand in 6542 with red point )
3) freccione= big arrow
whereas the suffix :
a) "ino" means something smaller than usual
b) "one" means something bigger than usual.
the nickname "freccione" was already used in Italy in the 90s.
my apologies for having been "a smart ass" myself , even for a short time !
