Seems like the bulk of the expense there is the clasp? I may be wrong. Not sure what a plastic lens is? The crystal or the cyclops? As far as the crown tube, not sure what that is either but I'm positive one of the expers on here would know.

Well all acrylic crystals are always replaced as part of normal routine service, and things like crown and tubes are normal serviceable items. What is wrong with your clasp its only a recommendation by Rolex that you change it you can refuse.Rolex prices today expect the clasp would be the biggest cost in your watches service.

That does seem a bit steep for a watch that was serviced 5 years ago, but you could be paying a premium since it's a much older watch. Did they itemize? What's the base service fee? I also don't understand why Rolex charges extra for parts that are ALWAYS replaced at service, like crown tube and acrylic crystals--should be included in the service fee.

thanks to you all for the input.
the clasp has a small damage ,dent, that does not affect its opperation so i think i will ask that they leave it as is. sorry about my plastic lens i should have described it as the acrilic crystal and the crown tube is i think the threaded part that the crown screws on to. i will watch the forum for a replacement clasp to suit the original bracelet Dave |
