Heathrow and VAT

Thinking of buying a new Sub-C soon.

I have a trip to the USA planned and want to fly out of Heathrow ... and see if I can pick a Sub-C from an AD at airport.

What is the discount? is is the full 20% VAT off the list price?

Which AD and terminal do you recommend and i wonder if you can pre-book ahead to avoid disappointment?

I am flying to Madison Wisconsin

All advice appreciated

Cheers

I'd suggest to find out which airport AD can actually get you a Sub C on the date(s) of your departure, then you can decide which terminal you are able to fly out from.

Divide the UK MSRP by 1.2 will get you the VAT price.

I returned from UK 2 weeks ago, about a week prior to leaving decided to look for a Sub-c, after visits to 4 AD's which included a couple of them ringing other stores it eventuated there was not one available in London. Found 2 AD's with a SS GMTIIc, both locked away & not on display. List price was 5250GBP, buying from Wempe the net VAT refund was 825GBP, Watches of Switzerland Rolex boutique the net refund quoted was about 70BGP less (their system involved higher fees). Claiming the VAT at Heathrow is straight forward, at least for a departing tourist. If a similar system exists for UK residents I would be buying before I get to the airport. Good luck.

And if you find the right AD you can do better than the trusted sellers on TRF.

Where are the best AD's in Heathrow (name, terminal) and is the price simply 20% less than the MRSP at the airport?

MUCH better deal stateside. Plus, you'd never be able to actually have a subC held for you at that store in T5.

Was in T3 a week ago, don't see any SubC, they have also advised me that they hardly get any in stock, good luck with your search.
