6609 Thunderbird
I just bought 6609 with 220xxx serial, I look from book that around year 1955, is it?
One thing made me confused is, the date all in black colour, not in black and red. Is it have 6609 with black colour date only? Thanks [IMG][/IMG] |

nice watch indeed, I wish I could find a pristine example with a black dial. Sorry I am not sure about the date wheel. Re. the dial, for sure it could be cleaned up, but I am sure it is desirable and I would advice to leave it as you found it. As you know it is all about being original.
Enjoy it! |

the dial and the hands definitely look original, re. the date wheel I am not 100% sure but I think it is, but someone else will hopefully be able to confirm this.

I would'nt bother with the dial too much -
Here's a picture of another Thunderbird similar to yours - in fact - its the one i'd sell my soul for..... not my pic (courtesy of the great Philipp Stahl) Again - I'm not too sure if this has all black or a roulette date wheel.. |

I'm another who can't help w/ the date wheel but I'd certainly keep the dial as is because trying to clean it could ruin it.
Very cool vintage! dP

Best not to try to "clean" a rare dial...Just leave it and enjoy it.
