Never been asked to take it off at security. I fly at least twice a year.

Off my wrist, in my shoes through detector.

A long time ago I took my watch off and somehow it fell out of the bin, landed on conveyor belt and scratched my dial! Good thing it was BC (before collecting) and what was scratched was my Concord!

PM sent. Pilots and flight attendants essentially have a TWIC card.

X2 Had a similar experience at the airport in Tel Aviv, Israel. They even got cranky because I had forgotten to remove my gold chain necklace. That was discovered when they wanded me. God bless the Israelis however. I have never felt more safe on a flight than I did after going through their security!

Don't they have like armed police on every flight ?

Leaving Brasil is torture, everything is checked 3 times, even on the jet way, right up to entry door of the plane. It's all good, I rather it be that way anyhow, watch has to come off though.

I mean how hard it it? You have to take out your wallet, keys, perhaps coins - I just put it all - including the watch - in my laptop bag well ahead of time.

I travel fast, hard and plenty. Nothing worse that people finicking stuff and holding up the line.
Bet you stand up before the plane stops.

Everyone does on Chinese domestic planes.

I never remove my watch when going thru airport screening. and even when asked, i just act dumb and pretend not to hear. at those checkpoints, everyone is in a rush to go somewhere, and things can go missing.

I never take it off at any airport as I always get pulled over for extra checks whenever I fly, where ever I fly. Especially in the states!

I almost always travel with my wife... I hand her the watch, go through security... she THEN places the watch and her stuff in the plastic bin and I wait at the other side to immediately remove it and put it back on. I also retrieve her purse and other items at the same time, so we are both covered. When she's not around I do the old "stuff it in the shoe" trick. No one has ever tried to steal my shoes. I've never tried to pass through the detector with it on and I've never been asked to go through those full body scans, so I don't know what would happen in that case. I can assure you that if I was traveling alone I would tell them to let me retrieve my watch from the conveyor belt FIRST... before I went anywhere more than 3 feet away from the x-ray machine used on shoes and bags.. and one of the TSA agents would have to hold the watch for me while I underwent the scan. There is no way I'd leave it alone, without someone watching it.... no way.

I usually wear my DSSD through security and have never had a problem until this past March at Toronto Pearson. They made me take it off and place it into the plastic bin. I was so concerned that it would "disappear".

The technique of pretending not to hear will most likely not work in the US. In fact it will only bring more attention to the inspectors.
