Sounds like you are all over the map! Not to worry. Not unusual.
These are mass produced watches. Not shares of Apple stock. You dont sound like a diver or frequent traveller so just Buy the one you would like to wear most. Ye olde coin toss-after trying them on- might work. |

If it really is a toss-up in terms of functionality, then I would go with the Sub. It's the more familiar model to non-WIS, it will always be popular, and should hold its value well. Submariner is almost a brand name in and of itself, and you should be able to bank on it for a long time to come.

Both great watches. Both hold their value over time.
Since I only have the GMT it gets my vote!

Get both if you can afford it. They are really beautiful watches. If you must pick one you really need to try them on at an AD. While they look similar from afar the design differences are significant when you see both up close. These design differences would likely lead to your decision. Asking for peoples choices here would only get you more confused. That's my 2 cents.

As said they are both amazing watches, I own both of them but my vote goes for the GMT, I love the bezel for whatever that is worth. Good luck with your decision

Go for the GMT. I actually really like the PCL's, and the business of the bezel! The green hand and text on the dial set's it apart too.

Personally, i could never justify the purchase of both. They are just too similar.
If i were you, I'd go with the GMT IIc. It is seen far less in the wild and really is a top notch piece |

My opinion
If you NEED the 2nd/3rd time-zone function, get the GMT. If you don't, get the Sub.
My reasoning - the Sub is a slightly better daily watch, better water resistance, simpler movement, etc. |

Both are superb, can't go wrong with either but I prefer the slightly more under the radar appeal of the Sub.

I have both and would comment as follows;
The Sub is an all time ,great looking, classic and will be recognised by most of the people you will ever meet. But its a divers watch with limited functionality other than a time lapse bezel. The GMTIIc is the most useful (mechanical) watch I have ever owned and I regularly use all the functions when travelling or tracking other time zones during a typical business day. The ability to independently change the hour hand without stopping the watch when moving between time zones is an incredible feature and saves you the effort of resetting the watch everytime ......but you need to travel to make full use of the features. Either way....you can't go wrong |

Can't go wrong with either one!
My favorite is the Sub though.

I like the GMT more, just because I would actually use its features. I never swim when I am wearing a watch. But both are great choices, Can't go wrong with either! The GMT has Polished Center Links, so that may influence your decision. Some don't like PCL's, I love them on the other hand. Welcome to TRF!

In these cases, I would recommend you the age old Coin Toss. Also, there have been poorly made GMT Master IIC Bracelets about four years ago, so try to pick up a current GMT. I am not aware if the Sub had the same problems.
Not trying to scare you off, just laying the facts on the table. Welcome to TRF! |

If you travel by air a lot, get the GMT. IF you like the water, get the Sub.

I have both......
GMTc's dressier (IMO) due to the PCL's but the cSub's clasp makes me all tingly just playing with it! You really can't go wrong with either mate.

Both great watches, and you can't go wrong with either.
Sub is more iconic, GMT a little more functionality. |

I don't know too many sub owners who are routinely exceeding the dive rating of a GMT so IMO there's simply more functionality with the GMT.

For me its pcls vs no pcls.
If this is going to be your everyday watch get the sub. If this is going to be a weekend watch get the gmt. My 2cents :) |
