Be very careful out there: Warning on fake dials...
I wanted to post this as I came across a watch for sale: A 5512 that had a fake dial. The dial is made and sold in China by Yukiwatch Co. Fortunately the watch is not for sale here on TRF but nonetheless you have to be super careful and especially when buying vintage. I will stress once again that you have got to buy the seller and only deal with people with stellar reputations!
Here is the watch that was for sale and below is an ad for the fake dial from their website. The watch that was advertised is a 5512 and asking price was $5600. Again-be careful out there and do your homework!

If you look at the spacing between the M- A- R in SUBMARINER you will notice the large spacing. Also the strange looking lume. Again- BUY THE SELLER!!! and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!

Also- Notice bottom of the fake dial the S and 5 don't fit between 28 and 32 minute markers and in fact it sits above. Below is a real dial for a comparison. Again look at SUBMARINER spacing versus fake above. Again- BUY THE SELLER and DO YOU HOMEWORK!! Cheers.....

Excellent call and thanks for spotting Dan.....There is no question at all that this is fake....
Be careful here.....this seller is your enemy and has an infamous history on TRF (http://50.30.33.71/~trfcom/search.php?searchid=4149351). Everything he sells on his own websites (he has several) and on ebay (he has several id's) is counterfeit. keep well clear....... Is the link an ebay listing Dan?? |

They are not that smart, no matter what trash they put out it will never be like the real deal. |

I agree a small percent does good work, to bad they do not start their own company and things would be a lot easier. I have to authenticate used Rolex watches, so I am always on my guard looking at every detail of the watch. Thankfully I have reference material to guide me when I need it.

As Michael said above, YukiWatch also sells on quite a bit on eBay ..... "professionally refinished dials". So be careful out there and know what (and who) you are buying. You do not want to be stuck with this junk!
