Wanting a new watch and can't decide
Hi,
I know there are tons of these threads but I'm lookin for some advice about what to do. I have had my Deep Sea for 2 years now. I am trying to decide if I want to sell it to get a Submariner. I LOVE the Deep Sea. I have larger wrists (around 7.5") so the Deep Sea isn't an issue at all. I was considering a new Sub-C. I have forgotten what a Sub or GMT is like on the wrist. I have been wanting a Sub-C for a while. I don't want to sell the DS but I'm not that attached if I was to have to. I havne't worn a Sub or GMT-11 since my mother and stepfather were married and I was always allowed to wear his watches. Anyway I'm just craving a SS Sub and wanted a little input. I'm just worried that after wearing the DSSD for 2+ years that the Sub might be very small. I think I will be happy that the Sub isn't so tall. I have knocked the bead out of the bezel on my Deep Sea and still haven't had it fixed. I'm just looking for any feedback. Thanks so much guys. |

I've been right where you are now. I owned and wore my DSSD every day for over a year and loved it - until the day I finally admitted that it is just too tall of a watch. So without hesitation I sold it and brought in a v series 16610. It's true that the 16610 or subc will seem 'small' in comparison to your DSSD, but after a day or two that feeling is replaced by the sense that 40mm is the absolute perfect size for a watch.
Good luck on your decision!

The best thing to do would be to go to an AD and try one on. It will wear smaller but almost anything would. Not only is it wider than some it sits taller than most.
I have a number of different sized watches, but I am able to adjust on the fly. It's nice to have a couple of options.

I'm in the reverse situation, having worn either a 16710 or 116713 GMTIIC TT nearly daily for years I am drawn towards a DSSD. I never had small wrists but after a serious accident last fall my wrists are larger (8.5" on the smaller left wrist) - and filled with titanium hardware. The DD and Daytona seem small on me but it is what it is.

I believe you will find the SubC much more comfortable on your wrist! Go for it, it's my favorite watch.

If you like the DSSD, just keep it. Chances are you may be disappointed with the Sub. Just save up some cash and get a Sub later on.
