Thoughts on Greg Stevens' straps?
anyone have any experience with Greg Stevens' straps?
a number look nice (crazy horse II, for example)..... saw a review on the internets, though, saying the black paint on the edge tended to chip away pretty quickly. |

He does pretty good work. I've owned one of his straps. However, my allegiance has been to only one strapsmith for quite a while. I'm branching out to another and have to wait 3-months to see how I like it ....hopefully it's worth the wait.

I have owned a few of his straps, I like them. I guess I am a fan, I would buy more in a heartbeat.
I am actually wearing a GSD today, it's the first time I have worn this strap. I just took a couple of quick pics because threads without pics blow.

I just noticed that little mark in the first pic, it rubbed right out with my thumb.

+1 ! Huge Fan of GSD
I love Greg's work. I have a growing collection of his straps that are all fantastic. Colors are rich, leather is soft and just quality all the way around. Also, he's a good guy who will work with you on what you want and guarantees the fit.
I've wearing GSD tobacco now (below in crappy iPhone pic) and I have been unable to take it off since I got it. |

I don't have a GSD strap, but agree that they are very good-looking. I've noticed that he also makes belts that are available with Panerai style buckles. These look cool, but the buckles might be too large to be comfortable. Does anybody have experience with Greg Steven's belts?

GREAT pix and feedback, guys. thanks very much!
will be heading to the states this summer for vacation and was thinking of picking up a U.S.-sourced strap (so don't have to worry about customs duties and int'l shipping). it's down to GSD or micah at the moment. |

Get Both!
Seriously, they are both excellent quality strap makers and if you just get one you won't stop thinking about the other until you get it.

I'd just talk to them now. I don't see any issues with customs. I ordered from ABP-Paris and it was easy, no pain. I'm sure Micah and Greg (and Rob) are the same.

I have a strap from both of them, and couldn't be happier. I've worn my GSD strap daily for over a year, and the patina is great. The leather used on my strap from michah is softer however, and more pliable, but I have no complaints on either.

I bought a GSD strap about six months ago for my 351. Love it.
I actually just ordered three more straps from him yesterday! I love the fact that he likes to interact and give feedback/ideas. We went back and fourth on a few ideas I had and took a suggestion on one particular strap from him. I also bought a Rob Montana that I like but a different style. I am a GSD fan. |

Those pics look great guys. I've been checking the Crazy Horse II out. For those who have one, is the leather soft? I mean the really soft kind of soft?

suede soft? no.....but soft "enough"
it's a little thicker than my strap from Micah, and I think it will be more durable, plus the ends are finished so that's why I went with it and haven't looked back since. I did put the strap from micah on the other day, but changed back. The GSD strap took about a week of wearing it for it be "broken in" |

CHII is a bit of a thick strap and is soft but the softest ones are the single ply straps..
the maroone antico was really soft...

They're nice, but some colours or hues are too similiar to many of my other straps..

Go for the Micah Cru! GSD makes a great strap, but my preference is for Micah.

GSD has a four week wait right now.
And if you buy more than one he'll give you a deal. I was considering a CHII but went with his new Heritage strap. I also got a black w gold stitch and another brown w gold stitching. These straps are for me to change up my 352 and 416. |

CH II is a gorgeous strap. I will note that it tends to irritate my skin if I wear it too tight. Might just be me, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I just experienced this for this first time. Do you think it could be the dye in the leather? I have been wearing various GSD stra[ps for a while now and this won't stop me from wearing my GSD, but it's good to be aware this can happen. I wonder if other leather straps by other makers do the same thing sometimes. |
