if where in my boots , JLC or VC

Iv spent two weeks and my heart is devided between the two New from AD almost same price watches

A) JLC Master Compressor GMT Navy Seals Chronograph, blackened version in titanium grade 5 , Limited eddition to 500 Pices , releaced 2011 form the AD.

B) Vacheron constantine Overseas White face, date only from AD.




what i liked in the JLC :

- Complication: it have chrono, Day night indicator, Date, GMT .
- movement : inhouse JLC caliber 757. 270+ parts, two barrels 65 hr power reserve automatic.
- Durability: its a navy seals watch, has to be tough
- being a limited edition of 500 pices worldwide.
- titanium makes the massive 46.5 mm case feels almost as heavy as my TAG carrera day date 42 steel.
- water proof 1000 meters. special croun locks
- being JLC , its a very respected company, and they make their movements hence sounds like all guts no glory.
- Value for money " at least the way i feel it"

what i am "not sure of " in JLC :

- Size , very big, im used to big watches, but to me big enough is 42-44 max. not sure if this size will affect its wrist time to me.
- styling , although i love,its nice for sport but i dont think i can get away with it in a formal appeal.
- strap, it comes with calf skin, you will need to get another one like their articulated rubber with folding clasp.



What i liked in the VC overseas.

-Being a Vacheron constantine, the oldes watch maker. wearing a VC you feel the heaft of years , tradition, etc.

- Styling , its amazing , sports or formal , perfect. simply elegant , 42 mm , chick , clean.
- bracelet, again, Art , maltese cross on the folding clasp, perfection in details, polish , etc...

- its a cult. i didnot fall for the early models though.
- style again.

what im not sure of in the VC.

- some what over priced for a simple complication.
- the dual time version, althoug more expensive has a funny date wheel, the chrono version is very very nice but way too expensive.
- not an in-house movement, i mean , for that price tag, the least can be done is to use their own movement.


i need the watch that i can use almost every day , or at least every other day.

Welcome to TRF. Can't help you with your decision - both are nice watches - but it's got to be a personal choice.

JLC for me. The VC looks like nothing special to me... But I'm not familiar with VC so I'm skewed.

OK guys here is the VC Chrono, i agree its a pinnacle of the sport watches


But here it will cost me about 65,000 AED , thats about 17,500 USD where the other two are about 12,000 USD for the VC and 12,500 USD for the JLC, now i know, we have a saying over here " I you wanna get drunk, you should not count the shuts" meaning that if you are in a quest for a perfect watch, give the accountant in you a break. But will it be a really sport watch ? isnt it too precious for a sport watch. i feel that i have to always put on that white cotton glove each time i handle it.

The JLC is too big (I have the NS Alarm one) so I´d say the VC as well but definitely the chrono version, perhaps even the gray/deepstream one.

On style points, the VC wins hands down, IMO. The JLC, while compelling in its own right, is a completely different look. Its case looks extraordinarily thick. I'm going to say VC...

The VC Overseas, ironically, has a JLC movement. I would get a JLC, but not that one.

I prefer the JLC, but if it were to be a daily wearer, I would have to go with the VC. I could not imagine wearing the JLC to the office.

Well, JLC is my all-time favorite brand, their watches are simply works of art, but between these two, my choice would be VC in a heartbeat, it`s IMHO more beautiful piece (I haven`t seen JLC in flesh, but I did VC) and definitely more versatile.

i would go jlc, but if limited to master compressor line i would go mcc2 or gmt
