Couldn't take it. I'm out!
Those of you that have enjoyed Seinfeld may get this reference right away. It's a tad obscure. How does it relate to TRF? Well, about 2-3 months ago, I made a "pledge" that I would wear the same watch for one year.
I thought maybe I could do it with my beloved SD 16600, the best Rolex I've owned. However, surfing this forum daily and looking at posts plus getting some peer pressure from some fellow WIS friends via email and PM...well, it just was not meant to be. I'm keeping the SD 16600 for sure, but a sibling has joined the fold. So my pledge to be a "one watch, one year" guy has gone out the window. I found the Seinfeld episode script and feel like it applies to me pretty closely: (Kramer casually enters, takes a few step toward the kitchen, and slaps a wad of bills onto the counter) KRAMER: (Declaring) I'm out! (Kramer now has the attention of everyone in the room. Jerry's mouth is open in shock. A moment passes) ELAINE: What?! KRAMER: Yeah, I'm out - I'm out of the contest. GEORGE: You're out?! KRAMER: Yeah, yeah.. (Notes their reactions) what? ELAINE: Well, that was fast! JERRY: Well, it was that woman across the street. (To Jerry) You know, you better be careful, buddy. She's gonna get you next. (Walks out, shutting the door behind him) (Jerry, Elaine, and George all look at each other, reflecting) ELAINE: ..And then there were three. (Scene ends) |

"Stick a fork in me, I'm done" Kramer
Well it was a valiant effort, but in the end TRF hidden powers always win This place is VERY dangerous, but you made it longer than most of us could (or at least admitted it). WELCOME BACK. |

You don't win until you stay true to ONE WATCH for longer than me. Since your latest journey reset within the past week, you have some time before you can truly take the prize and be master of this domain!

The most important thing is to enjoy whatever path you have decided to take. Congrats Eric, and enjoy that new watch.

I got it right away. To take it a step further, you could go earlier in the episode where for Elaine to be in the contest she had to put up more money because it was easier for a woman. And, in this case being true to watch might be easier as well.

Great episode Eric! It's tough being the 'king of your own domain'! I love Seinfeld.
Oh well, at least you gave it a shot with one of the most classic watches out there. --- - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm king of the castle with my newly-acquired 16710 with lug holes and SEL bracelet. Best of both worlds! It goes nicely with my SD 16600. I have the coke insert with a new black insert on the way. Next up is the pepsi insert. Let's see how long I can hold tight with this pair!

You've got hand. And you're gonna need it. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That was one funny episode.
Congratulations on your new acquisition. It was a dumb pledge, anyway. I think you are now really the master of your domain.

I too am not the master of my domain. I would never even try.
My favorite Rolex diver is the 16600. So many great watches so few wrists.

Good to know that you are not getting rid of the 16600, and that you have the perfect complementing watch on the way. I bet you should be able to make it for quite a while with those 2 watches. Congrats on a great incoming watch. You and I think much alike........I have a 16710 with drilled through lugs and a SEL bracelet. LOVE IT.
