Good to know that this option exists for sapphire crystals. Sounds like the folks who have watches with hesalite have a much easier time polishing those!

Its just a bit of sapphire glass you will not harm it in any way if you are afraid of the ceramic bezel insert.Which I thought according to Rolex was the best thing since sliced bread, and what they say scratch proof.I am sure that a cape cod cloth will not harm it, easy solution just mask the insert with a bit of masking tape its not rocket science.

I've done it and it does work. Mask it off like the others said. I am pleasantly surprised by the result.

I had a scratch on the cyclops of my GMT-C. Took me a few minutes and looks brand new right now.
-odered diamond paste on ebay, 3.5 micron and .5 micron.
-taped off the cyclops with painters tape and duct tape on top of that (it was overkill, but just to be sure)
-used a small polishing wheel on my dremel tool on the lowest speed setting, 2 wheels, one for each paste.
-took a deep breath and just did it........... 20 seconds with each paste and very light pressure.

It looks brand new. I looked at it in the sunshine/under bright lights and the scratch is completely gone. Since the ar coating is under the cyclops it's no problem.
