Hi Paul - Why didn't you want to fly commercial if you don't mind me asking ???
Sure you've mentioned before but interested why you "left" the Navy too. |

Wow Paul, the Navy left you without a time piece! Both wrist were "naked" in the commercial.

Well... Everyone seems to want to know (again). I posted a thread about this a couple years ago I think; bottom line? I made a Big mistake. See, I fell in love with this woman... Decided I wanted to marry her and spend the rest of my life making her (and me) happy. Nothing wrong with that right? Well... she was enlisted, and I was an Officer. In case you don't have military experience that's a big no-no. I knew the rules, and I broke them. My CO (Commanding Officer) found out about it and gave me a choice, I either break it off, or my career as a Naval Officer and Pilot was over. Geez.... what kind of a decision to make is that? I was a Navy Pilot, on top of the world (literally), do I choose that or the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with...? I chose her. My CO did what he could for me and with the appeals and all the other buerocracy it took almost two years, but eventually I was.... kicked out. It was devastating, BUT... I had the most wonderful woman in the world right?
Shortly after my CO gave me that "choice" we were married... then 12 days later I left for over-seas (it helped me in the Navy appeal process). Shortly thereafter, my newlywed wife got pregnant by another man, cleaned out the bank accounts, took everything in the house that wasn't nailed down and ran off... I never saw her again. So... what do you guys think? Did I make the right decision? A year and a half later I was out of the service. This incident in my life almost killed me... literally. It was a VERY difficult 2 or 3 years afterwards; I had gone from a Navy fighter pilot to an un-employed.... ? All for the love of someone that turned out to be... a monster. Like I said, a BIG mistake. BUT! Life marches on. I believe things happen for a reason. I made a mistake, I'm human, we all do. I went back in to Engineering and look at me now! 10 years later I'm... I'm.. I'm an Engineer! So that's it, my dirty laundry for everyone on TRF to read. Sorry for the long-winded explanation and my personal issue. IF ONLY I had known the most wonderful woman in the world back THEN! I would have courted her properly, married her, treated her like the Princess she is the rest of my life! Oh who am I kidding... Even back then Lisa was WAY out of my league |

You live, you learn, you move on. The most important thing is that we are able to move on and be happy once again.
What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. Besides, you got Jocke now.

Back to the commercial, that's pretty awesome you were in a couple!! I hear that being in the right commercial campaign can mean big, big bucks.

Paul, I'm not unfamiliar with fraternization - me a buck SGT and my gf a 1LT right when the Army implemented the policy. We had a daughter, married, then had a son. My point is you were a "casualty" of what I believe, then and now, to be a bad policy because it was not well thought out. You're a good man who was forced to make a hard decision, and like a man, you made the decision that was best for you. No shame in that LT. /jd

Cool traveling job, nice as hell condo , SAN DIEGO living, etc. if I didnt have a family , I would be in SAN DIEGO myself, hanging out and living the cool breezy life. Thanks for the story.

Paul, dear, first off: I ain't good enough for you.
Secondly, loved seeing you in the commercial. Did it air nationwide? Because I swear, I've seen that ad before. It's never too late to have a go at doing some more acting gigs. I did voice work for a while and when my littlest kid starts school I may do some more. |
