Was it cost that prevented you from sending it off to Rolex, or the amount of time it would have taken to fix?

Ouch! Well this gives us an idea of just how thick that crystal really is. Holy smokes. Good news it that it will come back like new.

that's bad! but it looks like the crystal was thinned out a few spots so it would need to be replaced in any case but at least you got to try the polisher

Did any water or glass get into the watch?

If not, you're really where you started, except for the heart attack, of course.

Good luck. I hope it goes well from here on out.

Saw that coming.

Bad luck Tony.

Not that it makes you feel better but you probably came very close to getting away with it.

I meant that with a big smile, of course!

I'm actually pretty impressed that the watch could withstand that type of abuse for such a long time. A 5mm crystal can only take so much.

Off to RSC in Switzerland. It is going home. I think you'll have to keep this particular watch in your collection - it has earned it!

If I want to keep her in my collection she might not want to be with me after all what I have done to her

Sorry to see the crystal messed up like that. A brand new crystal will make it all good though.

Sorry to hear of this predicament.

Do you think that this will compromise the depth rating of the watch?

I am wondering how the saphire crystal got scratches and dings in the 1st place. To do that someone had to be having more fun than anyone has a right to.

I've watched heart transplants on tv.

Seems pretty straight forward to me, cut open 2 people, pull the hearts out, discard one and reinstall the other.

Maybe I should try it?

Might as well polish the glass off. All kidding aside, it's doesn't cost that much to have it replaced at RSC. Polishing the crystal can affect water resistance among other things. Good luck.
