Trade Up

I'm considering trading my Rolex 14060M and Explorer II Polar for a Rolex Submariner 116610LN. I never have liked the Rolex bracelets or claps; they seem so cheap for such a nice watch. I really liked the Omega Seamaster bracelets and clasps, a work of art. I think the new bracelet and clasp on the Sub is worth the upgrade alone. What are your thoughts.

Thanks
John

I wouldn't make that trade.

I prefer those two models to the new Sub and would prefer to keep them both if the clasp is all you are after.

Just make sure you think it thru. You just might miss it later down the road.

Good luck!

If the braclet and clasp is more important than the actual watch by all means make the change.

I like the clean face of the 14060M. But them I like the new bold look of the 116610LN and the best bracelet/clasp Rolex has ever made.

I look at the watch more than the clasp.

I'm funny that way.

I do agree I like the newer bracelet/clasp better but not a dealbreaker. If it was me, I would save up and add to the collection (keep both!)

I like the submariner dont get me wrong and like the classic look of the 14060M. Sounds like everyone seems to think the "newer" sub is not all that. I have heard some good things about the 116610LN. Anyone care to tell me why the 116610 is not that desired.

Thanks
John

It's a fine watch. Many, many folks like it...a lot.

Have you tried it on? What do you think? That's all that matters.

X2

Besides I have found the old bracelet more comfortable, and I would rather have 2 watches personally than just one.

I think the newer version is great watch. Especially when the ones you have are so great in the first place.

The new version seems so much more comfortable to me, I could not get e nice fit with the 16610 for some reason. I don't think I would trade two watches for it though. How about keep one and trade the other for a Sub C.

2 watches for 1... I can see how the trade make sense but maybe the seller should give you a few bucks in return just to somewhat even the trade.

I think your right, keep them both and get some other straps. I have a few Breitling leather straps that I have just filled on both watches and guess what? They now look so different and feel very different. I know some purist say a Rolex does not belong on an aftermarket leather strap. But I think the looks great. The 14060M is on a Breitling Black leather with white stitching. The Explorer is on a oiled brown strap with white stitching. The straps have generic buckles, lol. Both watches look so at home with the leather straps.

Even though the Sub C is an AMAZING piece and has an awesome clasp and bracelet, I would still rather have the two over one

I would suggest holding onto your 2 classics rather than trading for the newer model.

I love the classics, but the new Subc & GMTc make the older models look like ancient artifacts from a bygone era by comparison, I would trade for the new Subc. I tried on a yg GMTc, & it made my yg Daytona feel like a toy. The case, bracelet & bezel are leaps & bounds more modern. IMHO.

As much as I love the SubC, I would keep that combo. It's classic.

Have to agree and hardly a trade up IMHO a trade down two watches for one just because of a so called better clasp. While the old clasp might seem light weight etc but it has a well proven track record on millions upon millions of Rolex watches over 40 plus years.

why not buy an omega bracelet , get the dremmel out and see what you can do ,, at the end of the day all you will destry id two end links. if thats the case sell the omega bracelet , and then have a think ,
i love the omega clasp its genius through and through , but the half link take it or leave it isnt the best form of adjustment.

the old bracelets may not seem like a lot of design and refinement are involved, however i have successfully had the old style bracelet hold my 16613 to my wrist for just about every minute of 20 years.

the old bracelet is sturdy and reliable.

i personally do not get that feeling from the newer style bracelets, for these reasons...
1) i can not see that little spring in the clasp holding up.
2) the welded part of the clasp fails catastrophically more times than i am comfortable with.

if anyone can contradict the reliability of the older style bracelet, let them come forward here?

PS the sub on the leather above looks great

Give me until tomorrow to go and get a SubC and I will make that trade with you. I will DEFINITELY be getting the better end of that deal........2 watches for one.

I wouldn't even consider that trade if I were you.
