Blue Sub 16613 OR Yachtmaster?

Hey guys,

If you were to choose between these two watches, which would it be? Why is that your choice?

I'm kind of torn between these two. I have the 16613 but I've been thinking about trading up to a YM but so far, I'm on the fence. Can't have both, that's the condition. Has to be one or the other.

regards,

lorsban

Wow, I've never seriously considered a 16613 for myself, but that pic of yours is so beautiful, I want one now!

16613 is my choice. YM too heavy for my taste. But I might be a little biased

Honestly, I would have to flip a coin... In this rare case I like them equally...

Well, according to the poll, YM isn't getting a lot of love.

I have only tried on the YM once in Japan and I didn't find it too heavy. Well, I've owned watches way way heavier than both the YM and Sub. My Anonimo is probably the same weight as both of these put together! So, maybe that's why.

The 16613 is probably lighter because the center links aren't solid?

Difficult choice...I have the YM but as someone said earlier, your Blue Sub looks really nice too. But seeing that you have a TT DJ, I guess having the YM would balance everything out (unless your DJ has a silver dial)...good luck!

My DJ has a "champagne" or gold dial. But, I don't get to use it that often, unfortunately. Thing is, I find that watch to be on the dressy side.

Usage wise, I see both the YM and Sub to be more or less equal, except the YM has a tad more versatility on its side, being that it's all silver and not too blingy.

The Sub is TT, but the blue gives it a casual look as well. But, what I really like about the blue is it's iridescent quality. I love how the hue shifts from blue to almost violet in some angles.

Kabayan, I failed to see that you are from the Philippines.

Anyhow I agree that the YM is more versatile. Sometimes, the TT Sub, which I see a lot in the wild here, is a little too much in your face at times (IMO). The black TT Sub is something I'd prefer.

Good luck with your choice...

Sub

*if this is your first Rolex sports model, if not, then seriously consider the Yachty

Naturally more people will vote for the Sub, though

another tt bluesy victory , every other thread is how old and dated a tt looks , last three threads with a tt vs something else , its the tt that wins hands down ,
ive a black and a blue 16613.
i think they rock.

Unless you really own a Yacht, I would get the Submariner. It seems you already have one right? The blue sunburst dial is a real winner on the 16613. Two tones are less popular these days but this is the only two tone from the sports line that I personnaly like. It has a certain "80's" charm to it so almost vintage ;-)

I voted YM but I wonder what it would be like in sunlight to look at, would the hands be hard to see??? There doesn't seem to be much contrast.

I would choose the YM. The dial is just brilliant in the sunlight. Plus the maxi dial, red second hand and writing just set it for me

Uy! Hello! Haha!

I feel the same way about the gold actually but again the blue makes it look more relaxed. The black is nice and IF I keep this, maybe when Im older I'll swap out the dial and bezel for a black one - for a more serious boardroom effect lol

The YM is more understated. Monochrome and it reminds me of some Tag Heuer models. When I showed it to my sister she said it looks like a Tag. Then again, had the YM been commercialized like the other Rolex models, we'd probably be saying that the Tag's look like YM's, much like the how the Tag Aquaracer 300 looks like a Sub.

Gotta to be the TT blue sub for me, something in the Bluesy screams classic to me.

But love to own both at the same time!

I've had my blue sub for about three months and I wouldn't trade or sell it for anything in the world. There's nothing wrong with the Yachtmaster . . . it's a beautiful watch but the blue sub sings to me loud and clear.

I don't like YG, especially on a sports watch, but bluesy has a gorgeous blue dial. In addition to this, I don't like YM case and color of dial. In this case, I would go for TT Sub Blue.

I think the blue 16613 is the best looking Rolex, so I'd keep that one.

If it were the blue YM rather than the platinum one, it would be a tough call for me though . . .
