IMHO the G Shock is the only plastic watch worth having. I have 3 and am looking for another to add. Hope you enjoy yours!

I'm looking for a G Shock to wear while hiking, with analogue hands if possible and as many gadgets as it will hold (Hey! I'm a Geek, I admit it! ) Can anyone offer any specific model suggestions?

Paul, my newest one is an AWG-100, Model#4765 and is Solar powered, sets the time by the Atomic Clock and has Analog hour and minutes hands. I got a great deal, price wise, by buying it at Kohl's where everything is on sale!!!

G-Shock is great, but I have started developing a rash on my wrist after wearing it. I think I am going to retire it for a while.

Tom - glad it got to you OK. Looking forward to late October to see what you have in mind

Paul, several good ideas already in here. My only dig/analog G is below. It is a GW2500B. Does the whole solar power, atomic clock thing. If you don't wear it for a while, it goes into power save mode. When you pick it back up the hands automatically run to the current time. I think this is really cool, and given your stated appreciation of all things dorkish, I believe you'll like it too This one isn't nearly as large on the wrist as some of the Pathfinders, Riseman, etc.

Seriously, though, if you want an analog G with some really cool gadget features, take a look at the new "ProTrek" line. There's one with blue accents that looks very, very great (though definitely a higher price point than the typical G's).
