Submariner in 42??!!
Recently i read in other forum a speculation about having the submariner produced in larger dial sizes, since the explorer 2 already did it to go with the current trend and to meet the demand for bigger dials to increase their profits. Is this true? can it be in 2012? I think the sub-c is already big enough. my wrist is 6'5 i think sub c is already big enough. Anyone has a clue about this ?

its specualation. BUT after making a larger sea dweller and explorer and JUST updating the GMT and SUB to ceramic etc i highly doubt it.. well not in the near future.

They just released the Ceramic models. Rolex doesn't make changes often. I surely don't see it but it's just my two cents.

Besides I think the Sub works just fine at 40 mm.

I highly doubt it.
My theory is the Explorer ii was boosted to 42mm because at 40mm it couldn't directly compete with the other 40mm sports models e.g. Sub, GMT. And so, at 42mm it is able to attract interest from people that are looking for slightly larger models but without directly taking away business from the other 40mm sports models. I probably could have said that better but I hope you can see what I'm trying to say. Seems to be working so far! |

I cannot see this happening given the recent update cycle on all the SubCs. Did they increase size on anyother model given the introduction of the DSSD? NO. 42MM is just a characteristic of the Expy2 like the increased MM size of the DSSD.

Subc and gmt11c already wear "larger" than 40 mm due to the squarish shape and large crown guards. Compare it to the 42 mm PO and there doesn't seem any real difference.
So I'm firmly in the "not anytime soon" camp. Rolex moves slowly. Ss subc is only just over a year old in the marketplace, so highly improbable that they would make a major case change again so soon. |

I'd bet within the next two years the 41-42mm will become standard. The explorer II is 42mm, the DJII is 41mm, DSSD is 43mm - Sub, GMT are next.
