Icon14 Pops picked up a ceramic 18k pink gold, chocolate faced daytona!

The watch is incredible... I usually do not like daytona's on a leather band, however this is one of the most magnificent watches I have ever seen! He picked it up from torneau in nyc... He bought it, unfortunately to sell, not enjoy :(

What do you think a good price point for it should be? its new in box with papers AD warranty etc. What is the retail? how many of these are on the market right now?

My best guess ... $3k less than he paid for it.

Strange business that, buying from Tourneau to re-sell. Can't see how that would ever work.

I'd ask like $32,000--one just sold for $30,000.

I'm not a believer until I see pics. I was just at the Rolex boutique in Time Machine yesterday when I dropped my wife off at Sothys to get her massage. Though my friend wasn't in I did not see a trace of any Basel 2011 timepieces there...

I would prefer as well as the TRF family that you post pics here... The ceramic Daytona is a stunning piece and I'm not a Daytona fan at all. I'm not calling your bluff but as the say in Missouri aka the show me state - show me or in this case us

So what old watches did he trade and how much cash did he add.....I am interested in knowing what Torneau would take for this new Daytona and it seems like this would be an important fact if your dad is looking to flip this Daytona anytime in the near future.

Also, I am certain that there are many on this forum (including myself) that would just love to see the pics of this new Daytona....Thanks!

Beautiful!!!! Sincere apologies if my post came off to you negative. That is an amazing piece. My words should not reflect the thoughts of other members here! Your pops did well grabbing it! Retail is $27,650 I suppose your dad can probably get $2k over retail!

Congrats to your pops! Tell him he should sell it and buy gold and silver if he wants to make some money, or real estate if he wants to make a lot of money, and to keep the watch for the wrist. :)

Best of health to ya both!

I never doubted you were telling the truth. I just find it hard to believe that your dad will do anything but lose money on this endeavour. I actually hope he does somehow at least make his money back and better yet make a profit.

Unfortunately most ADs are going to give you less than what a watch is worth when you trade it in. They are looking to make a profit on that watch or watches, because thats how they make their money. I don't know how many he traded in, but I am sure he lost money on everyone he traded in. He probably paid MSRP on the watch your Dad bought, so he would have to sell it above MSRP just to break even.

Well based off of the feedback ive gotten here... fremstar said it "retails for $27,650"... and well Lgear said "one popped up on ebay and sold for $33k..." and being that im no genius... I think he may have made...wait carry the 1... wait for it...$5,350 in the matter of one day or two, with really little to no effort. I work really hard, and that more than I can say for my self.

not to mention, he got rid off a lot of old junk in the process. But you also cant judge someones motives... i have a friend whose father litterally has a new super car every month. He gets a taste, then moves on.
