"Vintage" Rolex...what's it worth.
Stopped by an authorized Rolex dealer in Marietta/Atlanta area this afternoon. They had a beautiful "used" Rolex in wonderful condition and I bought it.
I was hoping that someone could give me an idea of what it's worth. Orig. Rolex Design 15200 Stainless Steel A483825 Based on the information I've been able to find on the web it was manufactured sometime between 1998 and 1999. It is the Oyster Perpetual Date with the blue face. Not an expert, but would be considered an Air King? Obviously it is old enough that it doesn't have the hologram at the 6 o'clock position, but it appears to be authentic. Just wondering if there is a way to find out what it is worth. Thanks from a newb Rolex owner. Last edited by RISC601; 8 August 2007 at 12:49 PM.. |

Figuring it's worth is real simple...whatever you paid, if this is a watch you'll enjoy wearing.
The DATE model is a mainstay in the Rolex line, although it tends not to get a whole lot of conversation points in forums here and elsewhere. It's got the same COSC movement as it's slightly larger 'brother' the Datejust and assuming it's been properly taken care of will give you decades of accurate timekeeping and visual enjoyment. There's nothing 'rare' about it. If you're obsessed with determining if you got ripped off or not, then just scan ebay or a number of the web selling sites and see what similiar Date's are offered for. There's not likely to be the crystal hologram unless the sapphire crystal was replaced for some reason for a service. So, don't obsess over that fact either. It's NOT an AIRKING...it's a Date. Different movement and the Date, as its name inplies, shows the date. Should you ever get tired of the blue dial, then there are options that can be offered by the service center. Enjoy it and be prepared for the watchwearing experience of your life. |

I'll try to post a picture when I have a day off from work.
I bought it at Lee Brant Jewelers on Roswell Rd. A friend of mine bought hers there new about 7 years ago. She said that this jeweler had taken excellent care of her. Nice staff, new Rolexes and a large selection of "previously enjoyed" Rolex watches. |

Here is a link to a picture on Shutterfly. Hopefully it works. If not, what site works best for hosting pictures?
http://risc601.shutterfly.com/action...m3Yugg¬ag=1 I updated the URL to the picture host. Hopefully the third time is the charm. Last edited by RISC601; 11 August 2007 at 07:40 AM.. Reason: Updating URL |

If your 15200 OP date is in very good condition with papers etc around £1200 -£1300, retail on a good day.To buy in 20% less, would hardly call your watch a vintage piece.
