We have three Samsung LED TV's - not 3D nor huge (32 and 40") and the normal pictures are fantastic, but the HD picture, through terrestial, sat plus BluRay of couse, is breathtaking. I found them to have more depth and richness vs. Sony or Panasonic. Being able to access HD Internet TV (BBC iPlayer here in the UK) is also fantasic, as well as the USB - load up an HD film or clips on a USB stick, and playback - nearly all types - inc MKV - all playback, unlike Sony an Panasonic, so I hear. Also you can timeshift record and play back from a USB HDD.

Samsung LED for me, have 2 TV's and a computer monitor.

The added benefit that no one has mentioned is it costs next to nothing to run compared to other types and produces very little heat.

That's exactly what I have. Got the top one in this series at a fantastic price. Beautiful picture at all angles, even from a foot away.

Personally, I'm a sucker for black levels, contrast range, natural motion capture & skin tones +++ and there wasn't (still isn't?) much better out there than the last Pioneer Kuro plasmas (diff name in US, I think, "Elite"?), as mentioned by some of the guys.

If LED (really only LCD with LED backlighting) it would have to be locally dimmed, otherwise you'll have bleeding (grey streaks instead of black when quick scene lighting changes from bright to dark) in most cases.

=> I'd go for the best Panasonic or Samsung plasma with minimum 50". Anything smaller and you'll regret it soon. We sit 2 metres away from a 50" and it's just big enough.
