FS: Rolex Oyster Perpetual Gold Cap Ref. 1024 'Hallmark Cards' Award for Restoration
This watch, a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Ref. 1024, is one of those commissioned by Hallmark Cards from Rolex's corporate rewards division in the 1970s. It features a stainless steel case with gold cap, and it was my plan to restore this but my watchmaker is swamped . . .
The 3,539,xxx serial number indicates a production date around 1972 or 1973; the inscription would indicate the watch was awarded in 1978. The reference number on the edge of the case is 1024 and the inside of the case-back shows 1025, which my watchmaker says is common in watches of this type. Rolex Oyster Perpetual The excellent dial features a 'double coronet' as the Hallmark Cards people put their company logo above the 6 o'clock marker, and that logo is similar to the Rolex coronet logo. The Calibre 1570 movement is complete and trying to run, but it obviously needs a C/O/A. It has no bracelet, and it needs a full service and crystal. Over-all condition is poor-to-fair, but that's to be expected in a restoration project, and a good watchmaker could make this watch look brand new . . . $699 plus actual carriage. Preferred forms of payment include a personal cheque, cashier's cheque, wire transfer, or money order. If payment is made by PayPal, 3% will be added for a US buyer, and 4% will be added for payment initiated in non-US funds. Please contact me through the board's PM or e-mail system. Postage will be determined by the service desired, and the delivery address or region. |
