Bought the new issue and it looks like all the new models are very thin and smaller....and IMHO its about time.
I love the 60's retro look and hope it last for a few years.
The past few years watches had got to be as big as my alarm clock!

The new A. Lange and Sohne Saxonia is a work of art even the low price Hamilton thin-o-matic looks great! My bank account is going to suffer.

Time to sell the DSSD.

Thin is the new style in my book. After 3 years with my DSSD I got sick of the thickness. Great watch but too thick. My new Sub C is perfect and the wrist time for the DSSD is suffering a lot. Only worn it 2x in 2 months for a few hours each time.

I admit I once gravitated towards the very chunky hard core divers. I've grown up I think. :)

I picked up a vintage collection Aquatimer a while back, a capable diver but fairly thin. I began to appreciate thinner watches.

Then, later I chose a Sub C over a Deepsea for many reasons, but the thinner profile was one of them.

I'm very happy with my Sub C, and have no plans to get any thick, chunky watches. The ROO diver is tempting, though it's not really very thick, only moderately. The PP Aquanaut is the thinnest diver/sport I've tried on, it's a little strange though, a sport/water watch so thin and light, it's the very light weight I'm not sure I like, I don't need a lot of weight, but some. :)

Yeah, I agree on the new thin-ness trend - hence I picked up a JLC Master Control Ultra Thin.
It is amazing that they can squeeze a beautiful movement in a thin case.
I think it is going to be a new trend for more dressy watches.
I will probably end up gifting that to my dad

And everyone gives Rolex a hard time for making 'in the middle' watches... I really like size the the Sub/GMT's.. Not too big, not too small, therefor timeless..

That said, my grail is still a Big Pilot... Although, I just wore my GMT on my first trip and it was very useful..

Mom always said that you couldn't be too rich, or too thin. Looks like she was right. I've always been a fan of thin watches on a strap for dress. Vintage Omegas, Hamiltons, Universals, and IWC, all have a place in my rotation.

Both can and do exist together. You can enjoy different styles and both be in "trend". Different markets also cater for different cultural tastes/trends. What's popular in the USA may not be so across SE Asia, europe etc.... . Then you have the variations on a more local /national level.

Add into this the shift of taste with age....too many factors.

Simply buy what you like .....bigger will always be here. As will 36mm gents remain popular for certain ages/regions etc.

Also, why knock those that enjoy a bigger watch than you? Your personal tastes are just that....personal.

The most important thing about this "new" trend is that there will be a broader range of choices for those who don't want a tuna can on their wrists.

The large watches aren't going away overnight. There will be those who will never give them up as long as they own one or they are still available on the market and they will be.

At the peak of the large watch trend, I'd see a watch on the internet that I really liked and then be disappointed that the thing was 48mm-50mm wide and 12mm thick.

And it's not even a quartz, it has a manual movement inside.

Not mine but I was amazed how thin it was, a little thicker than a coin.
