PAM and brand ambassadors
rolex hooking up with tiger sparked quite the thread over on the main board.
 it got me thinking about the other watch brand i am passionate about these days, panerai. yes, there are some celebrity connections we all know about, but, i find myself liking the fact that panerai does not have "official" brand ambassadors. i like that the watch and the history and the design and the quality do all of the talking for the brand. in the end, that's what speaks to me about what's on my wrist, and not what a mega-watt celebrity wears (or contracts to wear). simple, pure and to the point, that's panerai (to me).

Uh Sly...Why pay for one, when you get one for free. Plus a celeb would just increase costs even more than they are.

And play we must! I have seen Panerais on the wrists of quite a few actors. I always wondered if they were quietly promoting the watches that way on TV and in movies, or if they were just wearing their favorite watches to work...

im cool to panerai having brand ambassadors. but i really dont like the way its turning out. SLY, DMX, Jason Statham, schwarzenegger.
i dont want to be associated with or no where near an action star or a macho man. |

IMO brand ambassadors make watch owners feel like wannabes.. I like the way pam is now on Ads, just the watch and nothing else :p

Let's put it this way... Panerai probably just can't cop with the supply requirement for their brand ambassadors and the public.... So get rid of the brand ambassadors and keep satisfying the public for maximum profit....
