Trip to NYC (pics)

I went to NYC for some quality time with my partner, and we stayed over at the new Intercontinental in Times Square. Our room was a corner room on the 35th floor, the views were great. We took the subway to the World Trade Center to see how construction is coming along. Than we stopped by my cousins place and went out to dinner. We ended the night at a dance club and passed out in our room.

I can't believe how well it's coming along. It will be massive when it's completed.

I was last dec. 2009, and there was no tower back then. Glad to see the tower coming along so nicely!

One World Trade is up to the 85th floor, concrete flooring up to the 77th floor, and windows are up to the 63rd floor. The tower will be 105 floors when its done, so probably another 6 months for the building to top out. The workers are adding 1 floor per week. As I was approaching the Lincoln Tunnel I could see the tower poking above the other buildings in lower Manhattan, with its cranes looking like bunny ears.

I just love NYC, its a fun place. At 1 o clock in the morning the streets are packed and you get to see some nice fights break out between bouncers, cops and drunks. Only in NY.

Interesting update, Ed - thanks! ;-)

105 Floors! Amazing and an incredible feat of engineering.

The 1am street parties sound like they're best avoided, though! ;-)

Watching the fights is the best part of NYC, my hotel was connected to a gents club, and a drunk guy got into an argument with the bouncer, and the bouncer pushed the guy into the street, and the NYPD arrived on the scene and the drunk got into an argument with the cops, finally the drunks friend dragged him away and told him to stop acting like a moron or he will get arrested. Gotta love New York.

Actually, Ed, it sounds quite hilarious - it's a wonder the guy wasn't arrested! ;-)

The cops probably did not want to do the paperwork for the arrest. I lived in NYC in the early to late 90's and the cops in my neighborhood rarely arrested people, only when the FBI came in and did it.

Maybe the Cops found the drunk guy's 'over-refreshed' behaviour amusing, too and took it all in good spirit! ;-)
