what is it called ?

i remember going into my local watch makers with an old omega, i asked him to check it's timekeeping / reserve, he had what looked like a small set of scales or upholstered pad behind the counter, he laid the watch on top of it & said all was ok & gave me the watch back....anyone got any idea of what this tool is ?

You sure it was a watch maker and not a fortune teller (~"... it's all gonna be fine ...")?

definitely a watchmaker not a soothsayer it was a watch timer of sorts, he laid the watch down on it, crown first & it must have given him a reading of the movement or something

Hm, my second thought was a device that measures the "heart" = bph rate.
But how that translates into power reserve as being fine and the watch needing a service or not ...
