I wonder why this fellow is working at an AD and not living off the fortune he made investing in Microsoft before it sky rocketed. Was the flux capacitor in his Delorian still full after his trip to the future?

You hear these rumors about various models. It rarely comes true. The 16660 SD hasn't skyrocketed. HOWEVER, the unpopular 1665 Explorer II was discontinued due to lack of interest in the early '80's and has certainly skyrocketed. But it took a while. So I don't think I'd bet the farm on a YM in near future, if by chance it was discontinued.

My favorite part about this is the way the OP titled the thread. No question mark, no "Idiotic AD says..." just an (obviously false) statement that the YM will be discontinued.

Why could it not be true? Rolex launched the T/T YM II last year and the natural next step would be a SS YM II and then there is no need for the standard YM series?

I think a lot of people would care. Pretty close minded statement. I highly doubt the YM is going to be discontinued but who knows. Rolex wouldn't go around announcing this to ads anyway.

Well, Rolex never discuss new models or if they're going to discontinue current models until Basel - information like that is highly guarded. We can only speculate. I imagine this salesperson is either strongly misinformed, or seriously stretching the truth to try and sell you a watch. I sincerely hope it is just the former

If we add all the crappy AD sales pitches, it would seem like Rolex the company is gonna close shop next month.

There are good ADs though.

Agreed. People still have money to spend, they just want to spend it on something worthwhile. The $500-$3000 market has been hit the hardest, our best sellers are Tissot, Omega and Rolex right now

Never thought this would be such a hot topic. I never meant to "mislead" anyone. Just posting and wanted to see if anyone else heard such a thing.

Skyrocket doesn't necessarily mean triple in value in one day.

I will be more conscious before I post to make sure I don't ruffle anyone's feathers as I can see it is a sensitive subject.

I agree, people did jump down your throat for relaying something that an AD told you. It's one thing to disagree with what you said, but to bash you for simply sharing is unnecessary.
