No More Threads on Folex!!!
Here's a revolutionary thought!! How about we stop posting threads on fake Rolexs that we've all managed to find on ebay or similar sights?? We are, after all, on a Forum to discuss all things Rolex, not Folex!! Seems that half the threads posted here are on fakes. Lets give it a go...

Well I think that seeing many different types of the Folex watches educates people who may not know as much about Rolex watches and what to look for.
Because the fact that some people pay $1000's of dollars on fleabay for an obvious POS that we all spot, proves that we have a lot of educating to do. I dont thing there is anything wrong as long as we don't promote any of these. I have learned a few things about fake watches by the posts here

I say BRING ON THE FO-LEXES!
The forum does a public service by helping prevent people from being swindled, and educates members and readers on fake spotting. Rawhyde |

Agree, and sometimes you have to call BS on people that come here and try to pass off fakes as real too. Its unfortunate, but inevitable.

I say educate people on fake POS Rolexes.
But do not promote them. If you want to buy and wear fakes (it is your choice), but there are other forums for that kind of discussion. |

It seems like the topic has helped several people buy their watch with confidence and avoid being ripped off...

Guys,
I totally agree with your train of thought, I really do. But people are just asking for trouble shopping on these sights for a bargain. All they end up buying is crapola!!! Their best bet is buying from an AD, or a respected second hand dealer. And I must add, I've learned more in the past 2 weeks from you guys than I could in 2 years of looking at fakes... |

I definitely fit into that category of one who learned from this forum about fake Rolex watches and then in comparison to the genuine article, made me appreciate even more the precision/over-engineering/craftsmanship that goes into the real Rolex. This learned appreciation then gave me the confidence to go ahead with my purchase of a genuine Rolex of which I know I made the right choice with no regrets whatsoever.

Well I would agree to a point but must admit that some of the continual even a complete idiot could spot Ebay fakes every day are getting tiresome. Now the in forum search and all the information in the Rolex links resources and other watches. Will have most of the information needed for most watch related things.

Agreed, continuous links to something that looks like a £20 Swatch but has the Rolex coronet would be tiresome, but I'm sure that nobody minds a "heads up" to someone wanting serious money passing off a convincing fake.

While I plan on buying from an AD, I still like seeing all the Folexes exposed. On the one hand it does help educate me about the true Rolexes and on the other hand it's always satisfying to see a con-artist exposed.

If here is a Rolex forum and if Rolex has nearly 3-4 types of fakes from best to worst type of quality from price range of 1000 to 5 USD, and popular everywhere, disappointments at Ebay (getting fake with paying thousands) and also happinesses of getting fake with paying little and then there will be always threads here. Folex threads will really stop when there will not be any Folex being produced in this world. Most of the Rolex owners had Folexes when they couldnt afford what they dreamed. The existance of Folex threads prove the success of the Folexes cause people pay thousands accidentaly and some buy and get satisfied as real one. So instead of stopping threads here better to stop production and sale of Folexes if you can hahaa, That is all that I can say.

Yep, never had a fake Rolex. Rather wear a "Real" Seiko or "Real" timex than a fake Rolex.
I have known mnay who have bought fake and have seen many of them for sale overseas. Since I was going to be buying my first Rolex in SouthEast Asia, I wasnted to make sure I got the real deal. So did some internet research and bough "The Rolex Report". By the time I went to Asia a month later, I was ready to purcahse and review Rolex watches with confidence I was getting the real deal. I suggest anyone getting ready to invest $4000+ on a watch, to first invest $40 ont he Book "The Rolex Report". |

Roberto
Like a lot of folk here, I picked up many good tips re Folex vs Rolex from the Folex posts. Some of the differences are small and only come to light when someone does a "Is this real" post. Some of the posts are real bad, eg the white dial sub etc. But every now and then I learn more about the watch I wear from these posts. I found out that the new GMT I wear has RolexRolex around the chapter ring 5 times then a Rolex crown then 5 more RolexRolex from this site, and I have the watch. Didn't think to look until one of the Good Folk here pointed it out. Crown at the top and serial number at the bottom. The Folex posts get us annoyed and really pi$$ed off but there are a bunch of people that learn about Rolex from this site (me included). So I say "Keep the Folex posts". It helps me spot a bad one |

TRF is NOT a forum for FAKE Rolex watches!

In the past we have been able to "shoo" away the posts with Fake Rolex watches.
With the mass of new members and remembering which search keys are bringing them here it is inevitable that we will get far more posts of this kind. What about the idea of creating a new Section for Fake Rolex information/pics and stories? This will keep the interest of certain members and stop the die hard Rolex members from getting so pissed off with seeing fakies in the General Forum that they leave TRF.

For me, being a relative newbie, I consider this forum a one-stop shop for everything Rolex, including Folex.
For many of you, you know what your looking at, but many who visit or lurk here are soaking as much information on Rolex as they can. They may be in the market for a real Rolex and I think that MANY people, including myself, have learned about what to look for in a real Rolex and to beware of fakes on such sites as eBay. There are two kinds of threads posted here about Folex. One being Folexs passed off or portrayed as real. This is the real shame for people who honestly want to invest in a real Rolex. The other type of thread is about people selling known fakes. These are not too common as we are not generally in the market for a replica and therefore don't really care if someone buys a fakes Rolex knowing it is a fake Rolex. Sure, we may have our opinions about such people, but it's their choice. I have a problem with anything fake. I just don't uinderstand them. I think that threads about Folex should be properly titled and if you choose not to read or post on them, then it's your decision. But I bet many here appreciate the information and knowledge gained here on TRF about Folexs. And if just one person learned enough here to avoid losing their hard earned money on a fake, then it is worth it. I personally, like the overall balance and variety of the threads posted here and usually learn something from all of them. I learned what a TOSSER was. I just would like to say thanks to all the people here who share their knowledge about this unique brand. |

Below are some of my eBay purchases, every one authenticated. The only one I had a problem with was the OysterQuartz which I returned because of a scratch on the dial. Not much "crapola" here, in my opinion.

I personally enjoy them and learn from some of them. Like Rawhyde said it is also a public service. A seperate area for them would be fine but I don't think there are that many of them that this would be needed.

If anyone doesn't want to read a thread about a Folex, then don't.
However, many threads evolve into something different than what was originally noted. If you have a fast computer, you can scan very quickly to read only the information that you want. Sure, if your a hardcore Rolex WIS and only buy from an AD, then a thread about Folexs mean nothing to you. But why get annoyed? Sure, if your newbie researching a new or used Rolex, then the "I've just picked up a ...." and the 30 attaboys that follow may be meaningless and annoying to you. So don't read them. There are many types of TRF members and viewers here. We are all different and are spend time here for different reasons. I, for one, enjoy the variety and acceptance in the forum. |
