Bezel
I'm just new so please don't shout at your monitor with frustration!!
Looking for a watch for the wife but she's stuck on this one Everyone has their own taste so that not to be an issue but what should I look for? I know that this is an aftermarket bezel and that is worrying me. My local dealer said that this will automatically make it a fake in the eyes of Rolex and mean I cannot get Rolex to service it etc. is he on the up and up? Need some input guys, all help welcome but constructive would be the best Cheers Gadge |

Welcome to TRF!
For an aftermarket bezel, it looks pretty cool IMHO. And otherwise it looks real, so no worries there. I believe Rolex WILL service it, since the bezel is not important for the waterproofness of the watch, so it is only a cosmetical change.

Welcome!
Rolex will service the watch. However they will replace the bezel with the correct one for the reference. They will NOT return yours....something to keep in mind. |

Replace the bezel every 5 years for the service if the bezel is needed to keep the little woman happy. Some things are priceless.

Is the bezel important for the waterproofness of the watch?

Of course it is, that's what seals the crystal gasket, and prevents the water to enter. If you have a bezel that's not perfectly shaped (which none of the after-markets are), then you're watch is NOT water resistant!
As an authorised dealer and repair person, I will not service a Rolex with any after market parts to it... unless I can replace it to the original. And that's how it should be for all of us reputable watchmakers. Sincerely, Vanessa |

Cheers guys,
So the main thing is to get a normal bezel for when I want to get it serviced. Heard conflicting stories about how waterproof the watch is but only Rolex dealers tell me its u/s! What sort of price should I be looking to pay for a fluted bezel and any recommendations as to where I can get one. Thanks |
