only a 1655 can lure me to part with my SD. That is if I have the money to top up. ;)

EXACTLY! I don't want to fall into that category. Ive considered trading my SD towards a DSSD, but I think I might regret it if I trade it off. Most of the people I talk to will either never let it go, or regret letting it go....

I like my men as I like my watch - tough and good looking!

I wouldn't trade for a Yachty, 14060m or Sub. A nice Coke GMT might be a better fit for my lifestyle, however.

This whole post is blasphemous. How can you even put the words "trade" and "Sea-Dweller" in the same sentence!?!? I'd never let my Sea-Dweller go for any other watch. Period. It's THE BEST!

I have sold mine a couple times.... followed by regret and finding another. It is a keeper although it is a tight contest with the LV as the one Rolex diver to have in my collection.

Yup i bought the last new SD 3 years ago my AD had. I have been there a few time looking. They have the Sub, and new EXPII. They also have a new Daytona, white face. They said they would be more then happy to take the SD in on trade, but i couldnt bring myself to do. I really like the Daytona, and EXPII, but the SD was the watch i lusted for! So im keeping it! The SD was always my grail Rolex and I thought that one I got my hands on one, I would never let it go.
But alas, after a year of battling it out for wrist time, the SD lost out to my Planet Ocean Liquidmetal LE. I just could not justify two black divers in the collection. Yes, I miss it. Maybe someday I'll have another. Fr. John† |

Honestly, while I've flirted with flipping my 16600 for other Rolex sports models over the years, including the GMT IIc, DSSD, and new Exp II, I doubt I ever will. I really think that for my needs, it's one of the greatest Rolex references ever. There's is just so much I like about it: it's overbuilt, but still fairly svelte and completely wearable like few other 1000+meter-rated divers are, and it has the ability to completely fly under the radar (almost always a good thing). It has no cyclops (a plus in my book), and I can't get enough of the raised, thick sapphire crystal. Plus it's got a caseback engraving (I find it a little off-putting that the majority of Rolex sports models don't). It doesn't help that my 8-year-old son has already claimed it for himself when he's of age, so I don't think I could flip it even if I wanted to.

I traded a DJ + 14060 for my SD, and I have no regrets.

I had mine engraved with my son's name when he was born - he'll be getting it on his 18th birthday, so that watch is staying. I have bought and sold several Panerais since then, but can't seem to part with the SD.
