I love Patek but RO in this case.

I'd get neither. For me Patek sports watches start at the Nautilus 5711. The Aquanaut IMHO has no soul, it is just a simpler and less expensive variant of the 5711.

As for the ROC, while it's a great watch, it lacks an in-house integrated chronograph to make it perfect.

So instead of those two, I'd pick the RO 15300 or 15202.

I don't know the Patek is nice, but I like the style of the AP better.

Aquanaut.

They look awesome in real life, it's a watch that can't be judged in pics.

Although I highly respect both models, of which I have opportunity to handle only AP, I`m not huge fan of any of mentioned models.
Anyway, and this is just matter of my personal taste, AP looks really fantastic, and it would be my pick!
Or first pick, if you already considering having both of them.

There is something about the AP that I just don't like, whether it's the colour of the dial or the simple look of the subdial. Anyway my choice is with the 5167.....though I am slightly biased as I briefly owned one while waiting the arrival of my 5205.

In that time I was hugely impressed with the piece and found it most comfortable to wear and the dial is something else, in different lights the colour is different.

I would have no hesitation it getting another one.

Patrick, thank you for an interesting read.

Regards
Tony

Tough call! The Aquanaut is one of my favorite watches, so I'll vote for that. Plus, I'm not big on chronographs.

To each his own of course but why is the Aquanaut simpler in your view? As far as I know it shares the movement with the 5711 and you can get it with a bracelet. Sure its a bit less expensive than the Nautilus but more expensive than 15300, not that it matters.

Congrats but what's up with the 5167 strap? It's very shiny looking rather than the dull luster I've always seen? Is it pre-owned? You should try it on a gator strap... really transforms the look especially if you can get the gator grain to match the dial.

Congratulations on acquiring the two pieces.

That's the way to do it............when you can't decide upon which one get both!

Great thread guys it was a treat to read. I was at my local AD and I fell in love with 5167-1A I think the steel bracelet just transforms this watch into a classic piece. I also tried on a AP 15300 and it just didn't do anything even with the lower price point, which she liked haha.

My concern is that I plan to wear my Patek everywhere and don't want to worry about babying it. Thats one of the really nice things about Rolex. This thread had some great info about the bezel, that's something I need to think of.

Cgjane... is it just the pic, or is the ROC larger then the 5167?

It's the pic. But the ROC wears larger and the Patek wears smaller in real life.
