Okay Einstein, you asked for it. Tell me the difference between no one, nobody, anyone, everybody and anybody AND in which context they are used.
Still waiting JJ!

Just logged on and read this....so you asked for it. Simple examples should bring things into perspective...

Let's start with "no one".
Example: No one is allowed in that room while the meeting is in session.
Example: No body was found at the scene of the crime.
Nobody will be coming to work this Saturday.

Anyone with half a conscience will confess to this prank.
Any one of you guys could be the culprit.

Every body in the morgue was counted and reconfirmed.
Everybody should attend this seminar.

Any body which is over muscular is usually slow and lethargic at certain sports.
Anybody can play this game once they know how.

Satisfied?

Frans,

I thought the examples would be self-explanatory. If you're asking about "noone", then the word doesn't exist. It has to be presented only as "no one", i.e. separated.

JJ

PS: Read through the examples carefully and you will see the meaning of the words change in some cases with context to the sentence itself.

Okay, okay, I'm not sure what part you haven't yet understood, but I'll go back to one of my examples and try and clarify...

Every body in the morgue was counted and reconfirmed.
Everybody should attend this seminar.

In the first sentence, we are referring to the dead bodies in the morgue, i.e. every body, i.e. each and every body.
In the second sentence, it is a collective term, i.e. each and every one should attend the seminar.

Clear?

Now JJ, I could comment on that but that would take it a bit too far. Know the name of that Australian rockband? Need I say more?
