Rootbeer Question

Hi, can you guys help me with model number and year(s) of manufacture for this watch. Also, what would be the value of it? No bracelet, as is. Im pretty new here and I hope I am not making a mistake in asking. Thanks in advance for the responses.

The angle of the photo make it look like it has a acrylic/plastic style crystal.

If it is a acrylic crystal, and judging by the hand-stack and dial it would be a mid/late-80's 16753

If it is a sapphire crystal it would be a 16703. A 16713 would be a "GMT II"

It is a beautiful watch. Are you looking to buy it, or do you own it? Value without the bracelet is probably around $4500.

In order to date the watch with precision it would be good to have the serial number. However, as mentioned by 'Freelance' it appears to be fitted with a Plexi crystal which means that this is a transitional Rootbeer ref. 16753.

Before the GMT Master was fitted with a sapphire crystal and the ref. 16713 was launched as the GMT Master II the 16753 transitioned from a nipple marker dial to a gold surround marker dial just like yours in the early 80's.

Price range from $3800-$4400 with two-tone bracelet.

Hello Rsvrider! Welcome to this site!
You got a great watch, one of my favorite GMT variants.
In order to be able to answer your question, you should check between the lugs, at 12 will find the actual reference number, and at 6 the serial number of your watch.
If you tell these here, we will be able to find the approximate year of your watch.
Best cordial regards, Abel.

Rolex never made a 16703. The 16700 was the only "GMT" with a sapphire crystal and came in stainless steel ONLY with either a Pepsi or black bezel insert. The 16753 was succeeded by the 16713.

I believe that the 16753 transitioned from the nipple dial to the YG surround indices around 1984-85 so mid 80's thru the end of production in approx.1989-90.
