Forget Bond, there's another J...
Greetings TRF,
I see a lot of people talking and arguing over James Bond's past, current and possible future watches, yet it seems like we forget other important movie characters who have been significant in those classics we keep talking about and can't forget. Some of those don't even own a watch and I find it shameful that we never even studied the question of their possible choices if they had to buy one. Please let me ask this question for at least one of them. Who am I talking about? Who is that other J? Why this fellow, of course! I must admit I've never been a Star Wars enthusiast and in fact must say I've only seen the Episode 1 when I was rather young. However I believe Jabba The Hutt is potentially a wonderful Rolex icon and one can only wonder what would be his perfect model. From what I read he is supposed to be a ruthless, vile and obese gangster, therefore I'm wondering what would suit him best. - Should it have a large case? - Should it be made of any precious metal? - Does he need any sort of complication? - What about adding some diamonds here and there? What are your thoughts? N.B.: Now I can already imagine you guys arguing over which watch would be the best choice for such a slimy and gooey man (thing?) but let's all agree on one thing: it must have a random serial number! There's no way such an important man could or should endure a G, M, R or £ serial watch, it wouldn't make sense at all so please take this in consideration prior to posting your thoughts!

Jabba the Hut, whatever that is, would stop any timepiece in his (?) vicinity, just by looking at it.

Need some new GMT complication, what with there being two suns on Tattoine, keeping track of time is a tricky business.
Well Carl your post made me laugh like this fella. |

I think Jabba the Hut has a certain charm to him...

Sorry, Carl, but might vote for the other J is most certainly going to be the fantabulous Jessica Rabbit. Yeah, sure, Jabba's got charm and all (in that phlegm kind o' way). But Jessica has her own unique appeal - not unlike Mr. Bond.
And I picture her in some diamond encrusted piece. Did I say lots of diamonds? Just saying. |

(I'm thinking about a SS Ladies' Datejust with a MOP dial and diamond markers, any thoughts?) As for Jabba, I think we must keep that GMT idea in mind, those two Suns can be tricky indeed. What about an iced out GMT-II? Would that be too many diamonds? Should it be the classic diamonds dial/case/bracelet or should he be a bit more original with one of those new ones (the ones with the blingy Pepsi bezel in YG, that is).
